Sean Miller Welcomed A Talented Four-Member Recruiting Class On Signing Day

CINCINNATI --- Xavier University head coach Sean Miller announced today that he has received signed National Letters of Intent from a four-member class that that is ranked No. 9 by ESPN and No. 13 by 247Sports. The class includes 6-0 point guard Trey Green from Charlotte, N.C., and Prolific Prep (Calif.), 6-6 guard/forward Dailyn Swain from Columbus, Ohio, and Columbus Africentric Early College, 6-6 guard/forward Reid Ducharme (Dew-Charm) from Milton, Mass., and Brewster Academy (N.H.), and 6-9 center Kachi Nzeh (Kot-chee En-Zay) from Upper Darby, Pa., and the George School.
Green is a four-star recruit listed at No. 36 overall by 247Sports and No. 52 overall by ESPN. Swain is a four-star recruit listed at No. 85 overall by 247Sports, No. 87 overall by ESPN and No. 83 by Rivals. Ducharme is a four-star recruit listed No. 79 overall by Rivals and No. 111 overall by 247Sports who had some huge games, including three 30-point efforts and a 42-point performance, in July. Nzeh is a three-star recruit who among the rising talents listed by numerous recruiting services.
Ducharme, who played for BABC in the Nike EYBL, ranked fourth in the Nike EYBL in scoring at 18 ppg. while also adding four rebounds and three assists a game in 29 minutes of action per contest. Ducharme, the younger brother of UConn hoops standout Caroline Ducharme, had the highest single-game point total at the Peach Jam this summer with 42 points vs. Vegas Elite. In addition, he averaged 13 ppg. at Brewster Academy as a junior and scored 487 points, connecting on 57 percent from 2-point territory and, 37 percent from behind the 3-point line.
"Reid is a tough, athletic, and skilled wing player who is also a great shooter," said Miller. "Reid comes from a basketball family, where his sister, Ashley, recently played and graduated from Brown University and his other sister, Caroline, currently plays at UConn. Reid had a great junior year at the historic Brewster Academy, playing for Jason Smith. He also excelled on the EYBL circuit playing for BABC where he proved to be one of the best scorers in the country. We are really excited for Reid to be a part of our culture at Xavier moving forward."
Green, who played for Mokan Elite in the Nike EYBL, won the Nike EYBL Peach Jam MVP award with averages of 16.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.4 steals per game. Green, the number two ranked player in efficiency ranking in all of the EYBL, posted the second-best 3-point percentage in EYBL play. Green, who was a standout at Link Academy in Missouri as a junior, is now playing as a senior at Prolific Prep in Napa, Calif. His Dad, David Green, was a quarterback at Duke in the Nineties.
"One of our biggest priorities going into the summer was finding a guard for the 2023 recruiting class," said Miller. "Trey stood out to us as a tough competitor and an elite shot maker. Trey led MoKan Elite to a Peach Jam EYBL Championship and was an extremely efficient performer throughout the entire summer. Trey is playing his senior season at Prolific Prep for Coach Ryan Bernardi. Trey has the ability to pressure the ball defensively, make great decisions in the open court, and make shots in the half court. Trey has an extremely bright future, and we are very excited for Trey to join the Xavier family."
Nzeh, was named 2022 First Team All-State and 2022 First Team All-Friends League, averaged 20 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks per game as a junior while leading his team to a 15-5 record. Nzeh, who has a 7'-6" wingspan, was running track and playing a little basketball as a sophomore at Upper Darby High when he made a choice to concentrate solely on basketball.
"Kachi is a high upside forward from outside of Philadelphia who we are really excited to have join our program," said Miller. "He is an extremely high character young man who comes from a terrific high school program at the George School, coached by Ben Luber. Kachi has a unique ability to be an extremely versatile player. He has long arms, quick feet, and can run the court with great speed. We are very excited about Kachi and his ability to develop in our system at Xavier."
Swain is coming off a junior season in which he was named the Ohio Division III Player of the Year, as he averaged 20.8 points, 7.8 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 3.0 blocks and 2.9 steals per game. That included a game-high 32 points and 13 rebounds in Africentric's 53-48 state semifinal game vs. Ottawa-Glandorf. Swain blossomed as a sophomore, averaging 17.5 points, 7 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 3.2 steals per game while playing himself onto recruiting boards.
"We are really excited about Dailyn joining the Xavier family," said Miller. "Dailyn is an athletic and skilled player who is extremely young for his class. He has the unique ability to guard multiple positions and use his versatility to his advantage. Dailyn can really handle the ball and make decisions for someone with his size. Dailyn plays at a terrific high school program, Africentric High School, in Columbus coached by Mike Bates. He also had a great career on the EYBL circuit playing for All Ohio Red. Dailyn has an extremely bright future who will thrive in our player development system at Xavier."
