Freemantle, Jones Lead Musketeers to 80-62 Exhibition Win Over Kentucky Wesleyan

Zach Freemantle posted a double-double with 22 points and 13 rebounds
CINCINNATI - Xavier men's basketball picked up an 80-62 exhibition win over Kentucky Wesleyan on Wednesday night at Cintas Center.
Xavier ended the game on a 15-0 run to pull away for the victory. Kentucky Wesleyan was held without a point over the final six minutes and 13 seconds of the game.
• Zach Freemantle led four Musketeers in double figures with a game-high 22 points. The forward was 8-for-14 from the floor and 5-for-6 from the foul line. He added a team-high 13 rebounds.
• Colby Jones scored 14 points on 6-for-10 shooting. He added seven rebounds and a game-high six assists and five steals.
• Jack Nunge and Desmond Claude both added 11 points. Nunge nearly missed a double-double as he pulled down nine rebounds.
• Xavier hit 57.1 percent of its shot attempts (29-for-57) and went 5-for-18 from behind the arc. The Musketeers were also 17-for-26 from the foul line.
• Xavier held a 46-31 advantage on the glass and scored 20 more bench points (35-15) than Kentucky Wesleyan. The Musketeers also had 11 more second-chance points (15-6).
• Xavier opens regular-season action on Monday, Nov. 7 vs Morgan State. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. from Cintas Center.
