Xavier Defeats Butler to Advance to the Semi-Finals

Xavier will see No. 15 Creighton on Friday
OMAHA, Neb. - Xavier volleyball defeated Butler in a four-set match 3-1 (25-16, 25-13, 20-25, 25-21) for the second time in the 2022 season and sent the series lead up 23-18.
The Musketeers improve to 19-10 (11-7 BIG EAST) while the Bulldogs end their season at 16-15 (10-8 BIG EAST).
Xavier will now head to the semi-finals where we will meet with BIG EAST Co-Regular Season Champions, No. 15 Creighton. In the 2016 tournament, the Musketeers finished as the runner-up after defeating Marquette in the first round and falling to Creighton in the championship.
• Brooklyn Cink led the squad in kills with a total of 23 and hit for .269 in the match averaging 5.5 kills per set. The senior outside hitter recorded her eighth Xavier career double-double with the 22 kills and 14 digs.
• Angel Robinson hit .545 on the match with six kills, no errors, and 11 total attempts. This was the sixth match of the season for the graduate middle blocker where she hit over .400.
• Carrigan O'Reilly added an additional 43 assists to bring her career total to 3,254. The senior setter also posted her 30th career double-double with the 43 assists and 12 digs.
• Lucia Corsaro had 41 receptions with just two errors in the four-set match. The sophomore libero led both squads with 25 digs. Corsaro also posted seven assists.
• Delaney Hogan posted five block assists and one block solo in the match. The junior middle blocker has now had seven games with five or more total blocks this season.
• Three members of the squad put up service aces against the Bulldogs. Senior defensive specialist Alyssa Overbeck and Cink both posted two while junior defensive specialist Stevie Wolf managed one.
• Five members of the squad tallied double-digit digs. Corsaro led with 25, Cink and Wolf each recorded 14, O'Reilly put up 12, and Overbeck posted 10.
• Hogan, sophomore outside hitter Anna Taylor, and senior outside hitter Maryann O'Toole all posted nine kills in the match.
• Hogan led the squad with five block assists while Robinson posted four. O'Toole tallied three in the match and O'Reilly, Taylor, and Cink each posted two.
• Hogan and Cink were the only two members of the squad to put block solos on the board for the Musketeers.
• Xavier will face off with No. 15 Creighton on Friday at 8 p.m. ET in the BIG EAST Tournament Semi-Finals.
