Xavier moved to 2-0 in BIG EAST action on Tuesday night

CINCINNATI - Zach Freemantle and Colby Jones combined for 39 points and 17 rebounds on Tuesday night, leading the Musketeers to a 73-70 win over Seton Hall. Xavier moves to 10-3 (2-0 BIG EAST), while the Pirates drop to 7-6 (0-2 BIG EAST).

The game featured nine lead changes and six ties. With the game tied at 61-61 with five minutes left in regulation, the Musketeers went on a 7-0 run capped by a Zach Freemantle three pointer - taking a 68-61 lead.

Seton Hall battled back to close within one point (71-70) with 44 seconds left on the clock, but Adam Kunkel sank pair of free throws with three second left - sealing the win for Xavier.

NOTABLES

• Zach Freemantle scored a season-high 23 points on 10-for-16 shooting. The 23 points were also a game high. The senior forward pulled down a game-high nine rebounds to go along with three assists and one steal.

• Colby Jones finished with 16 points on 6-for-11 shooting to go along with a season-high eight rebounds. The junior guard added six assists and matched his career high in blocks with three. He has scored in double figures in every game this season.

• Souley Boum added 10 points and a game-high seven assists. The guard has scored in double figures 12 times this year and has four games with seven or more assists.

• Jerome Hunter matched his season-high in scoring with 11 points on 4-for-5 shooting. He added five rebounds and two blocks.

• Adam Kunkel finished with eight points, three assists and two rebounds. Jack Nunge chipped in eight rebounds and four points.

• Xavier finished the game with a .448 field-goal percentage (26-for-58) and was 5-for-20 from behind the arc. The Musketeers were also 16-for-22 from the free-throw line. Xavier also had 23 assists on 26 made baskets.

• Xavier scored eight more points off of turnovers (20-12) than the Pirates and held a 17-10 advantage in fastbreak points. Seton Hall scored 10 more second-chance points (19-9) than Xavier and held a 16-12 advantage in bench points.
