Six Musketeers Earn Honors from Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association

Five Musketeers pick up All-Ohio Honors; A pair earn Academic All-Ohio
Six Musketeer were honored by the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association for their work on and off the field. Four Musketeers earned OCSA NCAA Division I All-Ohio First Team honors, Maria Galley, Natalie Bain, Molly McLaughlin and Chloe Netzel. Additionally, Ella Rogers was named to the All-Ohio Second Team. A pair of Musketeers, McLaughlin and Rachel Dewey, also earned Academic All-Ohio.
Midfielder Molly McLaughlin led the Musketeers in points and goals for 2022, and helped the Xavier defense to 11 shutouts for the season. McLaughlin, originally from Granger, Ind., wrapped up 2022 with a team-high 18 points on seven goals, also a team-high, as well as four assists. Among her seven goals were four PKs, as she went 4-4 on PKs for the season and 7-7 for her career.
McLaughlin was also named the 2022 BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year and to the United Soccer Coaches All-America Third Team. She also earned First Team All-BIG EAST following the season.
Additionally, McLaughlin earned OCSA Division I Academic All-Ohio honors, earning a spot on the First Team while pursuing her MBA.
Forward Chloe Netzel, a Third Team All-East Region honoree, earned All-Ohio after scoring six goals, including a pair in the post-season, and dishing out an assist to finish the season with 13 points. Netzel's 13 points and six goals were second-most on the team, trailing only Molly McLaughlin. Among her six goals were three game-winners, including the game-winner in overtime in the NCAA Championship First Round win over Tennessee.
Netzel, a sophomore from St. Louis, Mo., earned BIG EAST All-Tournament Team honors following the 2022 league championship.
Defender Natalie Bain, a Second Team All-East Region honoree made all 23 starts in her rookie season, and played 2,085 minutes to lead all field players in 2022. Bain played the full time in 19 matches and played at least 80 minutes in every game, helping limit opponents to just 12 goals during the regular season. The Musketeer defense finished with 11 shutouts on the season, which is tied for second most in a season in Xavier's record books. Offensively, Bain collected six points, scoring two goals off of set pieces, including the game-winner at Butler and dishing out an assist in BIG EAST play, and assisting on Chloe Netzel's game-winner in the NCAA Tournament match at Tennessee.
Following the season, Bain earned a spot on both the All-BIG EAST Second Team and the All-Freshman Team.
Goalkeeper Maria Galley, originally from South Windsor, Conn., made all 23 starts in 2022, playing every minute in goal. For her rookie season, she has collected 62 saves with just 18 goals against, earning a save percentage of 0.775 with a GAA of 0.77, a mark that ranks in the top five in Xavier's single season records. Galley finished with a record of 14-4-5 on the season and earned 11 clean sheets, a mark that led the BIG EAST and was in the top 10 in NCAA DI. Her 11 shutouts also tied the Xavier single season school record for a goalkeeper.
Following the season, Galley earned a spot on both the All-BIG EAST Second Team and the All-Freshman Team.
Midfielder Ella Rogers, originally from Granville, Ohio, started all 23 matches for the Musketeers, finishing third on the team in points (11) after leading Xavier with five assists, and also knocking in three goals. Two of her goals came during NCAA Tournament play, including scoring the the equalizer in the match against Tennessee to help force overtime, where Xavier went on to win 4-1 for the program's second NCAA Tournament victory.
Rogers also scored in Xavier's NCAA Championship Second Round match against Virginia.
Graduate student Rachel Dewey also earned accolades for her work in the classroom, earning Second Team Academic All-Ohio honors as she pursues her degree in Advertising.
On the field, Dewey played in 22 matches, starting in 14, at outside back, helping limit opponents to just 12 goals during the regular season. The Musketeer defense finished with 11 shutouts on the season, which is tied for second most in a season in Xavier's record books.
Dewey finished with four points on four assists, matching McLaughlin for the second most on the squad.

McLaughlin was also named the 2022 BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year and to the United Soccer Coaches All-America Third Team. She also earned First Team All-BIG EAST following the season.
