The game against Cincinnati on December 9th will serve as Mental Health Awareness Night
CINCINNATI - Xavier Athletics and Xavier women's basketball have partnered with 1N5 to stop the stigma and start the conversation by increasing awareness and education about mental health.
The Xavier women's basketball game vs. Cincinnati this Friday, Dec. 9th will serve as Mental Health Awareness Night. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a t-shirt, courtesy of 1N5.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for ages 3-17. Tickets can be purchased online here or at the ticket window on gameday. Discounted group tickets for groups of 15 or more can be purchased in advance by calling 513-745-1910.
1N5 is a local non-profit that envisions a world without suicide. One in five teens suffer from a diagnosable mental illness, and suicide is the second leading cause of death in youth ages 10-24. Fifty percent of all lifetime cases of mental illness begin before the age of 14, and 75% by age 24. Sadly, it takes individuals eight years, on average, to receive a proper diagnosis and treatment. 1N5 works to increase mental health education and to reduce mental health stigma so that individuals receive the treatment that they need as early as possible and no longer have to suffer in silence.
