Swimming Heads to 2022 BIG EAST Championships

Conference meet runs from Wednesday through Saturday in East Meadow, N.Y.
CINCINNATI - Xavier men's and women's swimming will head to the Nassau County Aquatic Center on Long Island, N.Y., for the 2022 BIG EAST Swimming & Diving Championships presented by Jeep. The meet kicks off Wednesday, February 23 at 5:45 p.m and runs through Saturday, February 26.
Thursday, Friday and Saturday will each feature a morning prelims session, beginning at 10:00 a.m., and an evening finals session. All-session tickets can be purchased for $45 for adults between ages 18-64, and are good for all seven sessions, Wednesday through Saturday. Click here to purchase tickets. All-Session tickets for seniors (65+) and children (under 18), as well as single-session tickets, will go on sale at a later date.
All seating for the championships will be general admission. Spectators are strongly encouraged to mask at all times while inside the facility regardless of vaccination status.

The championships will be held February 23-26 at the Nassau County Aquatic Center.
Xavier's women look to build on last year's performance where the Musketeers finished third of six teams. This season, the Musketeers face off against six teams, including Butler, Georgetown Providence, Seton Hall, Villanova and UConn.Â
Xavier returns seven all-conference performers, including Kali Fischer, who earned All-BIG EAST in seven events (100 back, 200 back, 200 IM, 400 free relay, 800 free relay, 200 medley relay, 400 medley relay).
The other All-BIG EAST performers returning from last season include Brooke Atkins (200 medley relay, 400 medley relay), Clara Keiser (200 free, 400 free relay, 800 free relay), Julianne Libler (400 medley relay), Erin Merke (400 free relay), Lydia Schaeffer (200 medley relay) and Emma Swabb (800 free relay)
FREESTYLE
Xavier's men look for a fourth-straight title and seventh title overall since joining the BIG EAST. The Musketeers face off with four teams, including Georgetown, Providence, Seton Hall and Villanova.
The Musketeers bring back 11 who earned All-Conference at last year's meet, including Most Outstanding Performer Andrew Martin who collected three individual event titles and three relay titles ((200 Free, 500 Free, 1650 Free, 200 Free Relay, 400 Free Relay, 800 Free Relay). Christian Thomas, who earned All-Conference in seven events (50 Free, 100 Free, 100 Back, 200 Free Relay, 400 Free Relay, 200 Medley Relay, 400 Medley Relay) returns after winning three individual titles and taking part in three winning relays, plus a second-place relay finish.
The other All-BIG EAST honorees returning include: Jon Bernard (200 IM, 800 Free Relay), Davis Klein (200 Medley Relay), Roark Lundal (50 Free, 200 Free Relay, 200 Medley Relay, 400 Medley Relay), Joey Mullen (100 Fly, 400 Medley Relay), Jack Parker (400 IM), Ben Quon  (100 Back, 200 Back, 800 Free Relay), Cameron Weese (200 Breast), Brett Wilson (1,650 Free) and Ethan Wing (400 Free Relay, 800 Free Relay).
FREESTYLE

Xavier returns seven all-conference performers, including Kali Fischer, who earned All-BIG EAST in seven events (100 back, 200 back, 200 IM, 400 free relay, 800 free relay, 200 medley relay, 400 medley relay).

FREESTYLE
- In the 50 free, Alexis Worrall has the top time by a Musketeer this season, finishing in 23.74 at the CSU Magnus Cup.
- Kali Fischer leads Xavier in the 100 free with a time of 51.12, the fourth fastest in the BIG EAST so far this season. Worrall posted a top-10 time in the BIG EAST as well this season.
- Worrall also leads Xavier, and the BIG EAST in the 200 free, setting a time of 1:49.67 at the Magnus Cup. Kali Fischer's top time of 1:50.30 ranks fourth in the league and Clara Kieser has a top-eight time in the league as well.
- Fischer's time of 5:02.95 in the 500 free set against Denison is the fastest time by a Musketeer this season.
- Tilly Baldwin's 1,650 free time of 17:29.74 is the fastest set by a Xavier woman and in the top-10 in the BIG EAST.
- Kali Fischer, who placed third in the 100 back and 200 back at last season's conference meet, leads the Musketeers in both races so far this season, setting a time of 55.76 in the 100 back and 2:00.64 in the 200 back, both rank in the top-six in the BIG EAST.
- Hannah Pugh has a top-eight time in the league in the 200 back, finishing in 2:02.83 at CSU Magnus Cup.
- Lydia Schaeffer leads the Musketeer women in the 100 breast, setting a time of 1:04.20, the fourth-best time by a BIG EAST competitor this season. Julianne Libler also set a top-eight time in the league, finishing in 1:04.58 at Magnus Cup.
- Kelly Harris' time of 2:21.40 in the 200 breast leads Xavier and ranks seventh in the conference.
- Kiara Anchrum (55.33) and Hannah Pugh (55.52) rank fifth and sixth in the BIG EAST in the 100 fly.
- Sophia Romero's time of 2:06.00 in the 200 fly ranks in the top-10 in the BIG EAST and leads the Musketeers.
- Kali Fischer, last year's bronze medalist in the 200 IM, has the second fastest time in the league this season, 2:02.26. Hannah Pugh (2:05.32) and Clare Bosse (2:06.47) also have top-10 times.
- Kate Lair leads the Musketeers in the 400 IM with a time of 4:34.18 set at Magnus Cup.
- Xavier's top time in the 200 free relay, 1:34.43, was set by Molly Dynda, Alexis Worrall, Clare Bosse and Kali Fischer at the CSU Magnus Cup.
- The Musketeers have posted the second fastest time in the conference in the 400 free relay, with Alexis Worrall, Clara Keiser, Clare Bosse and Kali Fischer finishing in 3:25.71.
- Xavier's time of 7:30.59 in the 800 free relay, set by Alexi Worrall, Clara Keiser, Clare Bosse and Kali Fischer at the Magnus Cup, is the second fastest in the BIG EAST.
- The Musketeers, who tied for the conference championship in the 200 medley relay last season, have the second-fastest time in the league in the race headed into this year's meet, with Reese Turner, Lydia Schaeffer, Kiara Anchrum and Kali Fischer setting a time of 1:42.85 at Magnus Cup.
- Kali Fischer, Lydia Schaeffer, Hannah Pugh and Alexis Worrall's time of 3:49.12 in the 400 medley relay is the top time for the Musketeers this season.Â

- Christian Thomas, who won both the 50 free and the 100 free at last year's conference meet, leads the Musketeers in 50 free times so far this season with a 21.01 set during the Oakland vs. Xavier meet. He's one of four Musketeers in the top 10 in the BIG EAST with times set this season, joined by Ethan Saunders, Ethan Wing and Gage Hannewyk.
- Andrew Martin leads the Musketeers and the BIG EAST with a 44.63 in the 100 free, with Thomas sitting just behind him in the BIG EAST rankings at 44.81. Ethan Saunders and Ethan Wing also have top-10 times in the BIG EAST.
- Martin, the reigning champ in the 200 free, 500 free and 1,650 free, also leads the BIG EAST in the 200 free this season, posting a 1:36.78 at Magnus Cup. Martin's time of 4:28.15 in the 500 free from the Butler Invite is the top time by a Musketeer in the event this season, as is his time of 15:30.49 in the mile at Magnus Cup.
- Christian Thomas, the reigning champ in the event, leads four Musketeers in the top-10 of the BIG EAST in times for the 100 back. Jon Bernard, Ben Quon, and Nick Mahoney are also in the league's top-10.
- Bernard leads Xavier in the 200 back, posting a time fo 1:49.44 at Magnus Cup. Michael Benington also posted a top-10 time in the BIG EAST.
- Ethan Saunders' time fo 55.02 in the 100 breast leads the BIG EAST so far this season. He is joined in the top-10 of the BIG EAST rankings by Jon Bernard, Will Serad and Davis Klein.
- Nathan Wall's time of 2:03.42 in the 200 breast is the best time in the event so far this season for Xavier, with Jon Bernard and Will Serad also posting times that rate in the top-10 in the conference.
- Christian Thomas has the second fastest time in the league in the 100 fly, posting a time of 48.99 at Magnus Cup. Joey Mullen's time of 49.95 also ranks in the top-10 in the league.
- Jack Parker (1:51.64) and Caleb Petranchuk (1:53.81) both hold top-10 times in the BIG EAST for the 200 fly.
- Michael Benington (1:51.76) and Jack Parker (1:52.27) both have times ranked in the top-eight of the conference so far this season in the 200 IM.
- Nathan Wall leads Xavier with a time of 3:57.63 in the 400 IM, and Michael Benington and Jack Park both have times that rank in the top 10 in the league.
- The Musketeers look to repeat as the BIG EAST Champions in the 200 free relay, leading the conference with a time of 1:21.42, set by Ethan Saunders, Ethan Wing, Andrew Martin and Christian Thomas at CSU Magnus Cup.
- Xavier also leads the league and is the reigning champs in the 400 free relay, with Andrew Martin, Ethan Saunders, Ethan Wing and Christian Thomas setting a time of 2:58.66 at Magnus Cup.
