Swimming Wins a Pair of Events, Set Three New School Records on Day Three at BIG EAST Championships

Men remain in first with one day left, women are in fourth place
EAST MEADOW, N.Y. – Xavier men's swimming remain in first place while Xavier's women are in fourth following the third of four days at the 2022 BIG EAST Championships.
On the women's side, the Musketeers collected two silver medals and a new school record, with Kali Fischer upping the 200 free record she set earlier this week on the way to a second-place finish and Erin Ritz taking the silver in the 100 fly.
Xavier's men collected two event championships and two school records on the third day. Jack Parker led off the day by breaking a second school record that stood for over a decade, on the way to a silver medal in the 200 IM. Andrew Martin repeated as the BIG EAST Champion in the 200 free, breaking a school-record he set earlier in the week and hit the B-Standard for the NCAAs in the process. Ethan Saunders won his first individual title as a Musketeer, taking the 100 breast championship, while Will Serad also posted an All-Conference perfomance, finishing third in the event.
The 2022 BIG EAST Championship is set to wrap up on Saturday, with prelims set for 10 a.m.

Tomorrow's prelims are slated to start at 10 a.m. with finals beginning at 5:45 p.m. with a Senior Celebration set to begin at 5:35 a.m.

WOMEN'S NOTABLE |
- Kate Lair led the Musketeer women in the 400 IM, qualifying for the B-Final and finishing 12th overall. Kelly Harris also scored while competing in the C-Final.
- Eri Ritz took the silver medal with a time of 54.66 in the 100 fly.
- Hannah Pugh, Sophia Romero and Emma Jury scored for the Musketeers in the B-Final.
- Kali Fischer broke a school record she set on Wednesday, and took home the silver medal, with a time of 1:48.33 in the 200 free. Clara Keiser placed fourth with a time of 1:50.54.
- Clare Bosse ad Alexis Worrall scored for the Musketeers, finishing in 11th and 12th place, respectively, competing in the Consolation final.
- Kate Lair led a trio of Musketeers in the top six of the 100 breast, finishing fourth in 1:04.77. Lydia Schaeffer placed fifth and Julianne Libler placed sixth.
- Molly Dynda and Tilly Baldwin scored for the Musketeers, competing in the Consolation Final, and Kelly Harris also scored in the Bonus Final.
- Brooke Atkins used a time of 55.64 in the Championship final to lead the Musketeers in the 100 back, placing eighth.
- Reese Turner scored in the B-Final of the 100 back, finishing 12th, and Erin Merke competed in the Bonus final to score for the Musketeers.
- Xavier's women closed out the meet with a fourth-place finish in the 400 medley relay, with Brooke Atkins, Kate Lair, Erin Ritz and Clare Bosse finishing in 3:45.41.
- The Musketeers are in fourth place with 723 points following six races and a diving event in which they did not compete on day three.

MEN'S NOTABLE |
- Jack Parker, the top qualifier in the 400 IM prelims, led Xavier in the Championship final with a school record time of 3:50.59 to take silver.
- Michael Benington and Nathan Wall took part in the Championship final, taking sixth and seventh respectively. Will Serad and Cameron Weese scored for the Musketeers, taking part in the B-Final.
- Joey Mullen led Xavier in the 100 fly, placing fifth in the Championship final with a time of 49.23. Gage Hannewyk touched just behind him in sixth.
- Caleb Petranchuk set the second fastest time in the B-Final to finish 10th overall.
- Andrew Martin repeated as the BIG EAST Champion in the 200 free, setting a new school record and an NCAA B-Cut time, finishing in 1:35.80.
- Adam Lamping and Ethan Wing scored for the Musketeers competing in the B-Final.
- Ethan Saunders won the conference title in the 100 breast, finishing in 54.62. Saunders led three Musketeers in the top six, with Will Serad finishing third and Jon Bernard placing sixth.
- Cameron Weese and Caleb Petranchuk scored for Xavier, finishing 11th and 12th respectively in the B-Final.
- Christian Thomas led three Musketeers in the Championship Final of the 100 back, finishing in 48.98 to place fourth. Nick Mahoney placed sixth and Ben Quon touched just behind him in seventh place.
- The Musketeers wrapped up the third day with a third-place finish in the 400 medley relay, with Christian Thomas, Will Serad, Joey Mullen and Ethan Saunders finishing in 3:16.21.
- Xavier remains in first place with one day remaining, leading second-place Georgetown by 9.5 points.
