Xavier's pitchers combined for a season-high 13 strikeouts on Monday night

MASON, Ohio - Xavier baseball captured the season series vs the Bearcats on Monday night with a 6-5 victory, the Musketeers third straight win over crosstown rival Cincinnati. Despite the cold weather, 1,203 fans attended the game at Prasco Park.

The Xavier pitching staff posted a season-high 13 strikeouts, the team's fourth game with 10 or more strikeouts this year. The Musketeers have thrown 34 strikeouts in three games vs the Bearcats this season.

Lane Flamm went 4-for-4 from the plate with three RBI, a run and a triple to pace the Musketeer offense.

Xavier (12-13) looks to win its fourth straight game over the Bearcats (9-13) on Wednesday, March 30 in the opening game of the Joe Nuxhall Classic. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. from the UC Baseball Stadium.

XU AT THE PLATE

Lane Flamm went 4-for-4 from the plate with three RBI, a run and a triple to pace the Musketeer offense.
Tyler DeMartino went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run, while Garrett Schultz added two RBI and hit. Jack Housinger also scored a run for the Musketeers.
Xavier posted three more hits (11-8) than the Bearcats and left one less runner on base (11-10). The Musketeers also committed the lone error of the game.
Xavier now has 15 games on the year with 10 or more hits.
Jared Cushing went 1-for-4 from the plate, his seventh straight game with a hit. Jerry Huntzinger also reached base on a hit by pitch, his team-leading 24th straight game reaching base.

XU ON THE MOUND

Freshman George Eisenhardt made his sixth start of the season, going 3.1 innings. He threw four strikeouts and allowed four hits and three runs (two earned).
Bobby Jones threw 2.2 innings of scoreless relief, surrounding only one hit. The RHP posted three strikeouts with one walk.
Jonathan Kelly (3-0) picked up the win on the mound, throwing a career-high six strikeouts. He went 2.2 innings and allowed three hits and two runs.
Bryce Barnett posted his first save of the season, throwing to the final Bearcat batter of the game - a flyout to center field.
