Back and Forth Battle Goes Against Xavier
04.10.22 | Baseball
Musketeers ready for four-game homestand
The fireworks started in the top of the first as Xavier put two on the board behind a Luke Franzoni RBI double and a Tyler DeMartino RBI single. However, Seton Hall woke up ready to play as they dropped five in the bottom half of the frame. After tacking on one more in the second to extend the lead to four.
From there, the comeback was on. DeMartino got one back in the third with an RBI ground out, and Seton Hall handed Xavier three runs on three-straight bases loaded walks. With the score at 6-6 after four, Matthew DePrey gave Xavier the lead again with an RBI double in the fifth.
That would prove to be as close as Xavier would get to victory, as the 5-0 run was answered by a Pirate 4-0 scoring run in the sixth. They held on to win 10-7.
Next up, Xavier plays Wright State at home on Tuesday as they try to avenge a 2-1 walk-off victory earlier this season.
