The Musketeers had three golfers post top-10 finishes at the tournament

PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. - Xavier women's golf won its third straight BIG EAST Championship on Saturday afternoon, winning by 14 strokes. The Musketeers posted a 54-hole score of 878 (+14).

The three-day tournament was held at the Callaway Resort Mountain View Course in Pine Mountain, Ga.

Xavier's Abby Kiefer and Emma McMyler, and Creighton's Katherine Lemke, all finished the tournament tied for first with a score of 213 (-3) - winning individual medalist honors.

Lemke earned the BIG EAST's individual automatic qualifier for the NCAA Championship, winning a playoff against Kiefer and McMyler. Lemke birdied the first hole of the playoff, while McMyler and Kiefer made par.

NOTABLES

• Xavier is only the second BIG EAST team to win three titles in a row. Seton Hall won three straight championships from 2014-16.

• Xavier now has eight top-two finishes dating back to the spring of 2021 (five tournament titles; three runner-up finishes).

• The first-place finish for Abby Kiefer is the highest finish of her career. Emma McMyler now has two career first-place finishes (also won the Bradley Coyote Creek Classic on Oct. 10, 2021).

• Xavier's team score of 878 (+14) is the lowest team score since Notre Dame posted a score of 861 at the 2013 championships.

• Abby Kiefer, Emma McMyler and Katherine Lemke's score of 213 (-3) is the lowest individual score at the BIG EAST Championships since Notre Dame's Talia Campbell and Lindsey Weaver shot a 210 at the 2013 championships.

• Xavier's 14-stroke victory is the largest stroke victory since 2019 (The Musketeers defeated Georgetown by 14 strokes; 902-916).

• Xavier earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships by capturing the BIG EAST Championships. The six NCAA Regionals will be played on May 9-11 at the following locations: Stanford, Calif., Franklin, Tenn., Albuquerque, N.M., Ann Arbor, Mich., Stillwater, Okla., Tallahassee, Fla.

• The 2022 Division I NCAA women's golf season will have six regional sites for the first time in its history this season. A total 12 teams and six individuals will be featured at each regional site.

• The NCAA Championships will be held on May 20-25 at the Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
