Musketeers knock off Miami (OH) to take title
In what would set the table for the game to come, Jerry Huntzinger led off the game with a home run and Xavier never looked back. They picked up two more in the third off an Andrew Walker RBI double, and he later scored on a pair of passed balls.
Miami got one back in the bottom of the fourth, but Xavier answered in the top of the fifth when Luke Franzoni scored on a Redhawk error. Miami scored again in the bottom of the fifth to make it 4-2, but Xavier would run off 13 unanswered runs to finish the game.
Jack Housinger and Tyler DeMartino hit rbi singles in the sixth and Andrew Walker scored on an rbi groundout. In the seventh, Walker hit another two-rbi hit with a single to right, and Jared Cushing hit a sac fly in the eighth to make it 10-2.
If you're doing the math at home, yes, Xavier put up seven runs in the ninth. RBI singles from Alex Helmin, Garrett Schultz (two-RBI single) and Matt DePrey paced the offense, and an Eddie Rivero RBI groundout, Jackson Kaplowitz HBP, and finally an Andrew Walker sac fly capped off the scoring output.
Xavier opens BIG EAST play next week at Seton Hall as they look to get above .500 for the first time this season.

- Andrew Walker led tonight's hit parade witha 2-4, four-RBI effort. He reached base four times including a double and two walks, scoring three times.
- Garrett Schultz also collected two hits tonight, notching four RBIs and a run in six at-bats.
- Jerry Huntzinger went 2-5 including a leadoff home run to start the game. He scored three times and stole a base.
- Jack Housinger was 2-4 including a double, an RBI and three runs.
- Alex Helmin and Matt DePrey both had a hit, an RBI and a run in the ninth inning.
- Luke Franzoni had a hit and walked four times, scoring once. As a team, Xavier walked 16 times.

- Connor Bailey started tonight's championship, going 2.2 innings while only allowing one run on three hits while striking out six.
- Luke Bell finished the third and fourth, only giving up two hits in the meantime.
- Bryce Barnett pitched the fifth and sixth and only allowed one baserunner while striking out two.
- Jonathan Kelly struck out one and walked one in the seventh.
- Miles Halligan pitched a perfect eighth inning including a strikeout.
- Luke Hoskins finished the victory with a scoreless ninth frame.
