Jerry Huntzinger 's Grand Slam Helps Lift Xavier Past Creighton

Luke Franzoni sets school record with 17 home runs in a season
Just as they had in the first two games, Creighton scored in the top of the first. Down 2-0, Xavier strung a few hits together to get one back on a Tyler DeMartino RBI groundout. the 2-1 score would remian for the majority of the game, that is until Jerry Huntzinger launched a grand slam in the fourth to give Xavier a 5-1 lead, which would ultimately prove to be enough.
Lane Flamm added another in the fifth with a double down the right field line, and that stage for Luke Franzoni to hit the single-season record-breaking home run in the sixth. Flamm picked up another RBI with a ground out shortly after to score Ethan Hodge.
With the game well sealed at 8-2, Creighton got one back in seventh, but Garrett Schultz answered in the eighth with another insurance run, capping the game at 9-3.
Xavier takes the field next weekend as they head up the road to Butler as the hunt for the BIG EAST Playoffs continues.
