Franco Martinessi ranked No. 2 in Paraguay’s U18 rankings

CINCINNATI - Xavier women's tennis adds Paulina Franco Martinessi to the 2022 signing class, head coach Doug Matthews announced this week. Franco Martinessi, originally from Asunción, Paraguay, comes to Xavier after a stand-out junior career.

"I'm excited to welcome Paulina to the Xavier tennis family," said Matthews. "She had a very successful junior career, reaching a high ITF ranking of 132."

"She is an all-around aggressive player who has had some really impressive doubles results as well. More importantly, she will fit into our culture and be a great addition to Xavier University."

Franco Martinessi is ranked No. 2 in Paraguay's U18 rankings. During her junior career, she earned an ITF ranking as high as No. 132 in early 2022, after collecting 19 wins against in 2021 and has eight ITF titles.
