Xavier downs UConn 3-0 in the fourth weekend of BIG EAST play

STORRS, Conn. - Xavier volleyball opened the fourth weekend of BIG EAST action with a straight sets (25-19, 25-23, 25-15) win over UConn on Friday night.

The Musketeers move to 12-6 (5-2 BIG EAST) on the season and the Huskies fall to 5-14 (0-7 BIG EAST).

Xavier secured the first program win over UConn with the sweep, sending the series history with the Huskies to 1-4.

NOTABLES

• Sarah Stevens, the redshirt junior middle blocker, led the Musketeers' offense with her match-high nine kills and the match-high hitting percentage of .500. Stevens was followed on offense by senior middle blocker Delaney Hogan and graduate outside hitter Brooklyn Cink, boasting eight kills apiece.

• Cink and redshirt sophomore outside hitter Emma Grace each tallied a block solo against UConn with Stevens and redshirt sophomore outside hitter Anna Taylor registering two block assists apiece.

• Logan Flaugh, the junior setter, posted the team-high of 14 digs and Lucia Corsaro, the junior libero, tallied 12. The pair averaged over four digs per set.

• Carrigan O'Reilly registered six kills hitting .429 with 32 assists and seven digs, rasing her career total for assists to 3,952. The graduate setter averaged 10.67 assist per set.

• Five Musketeers tallied service aces - Flaugh, senior libero Stevie Wolf, Hogan, Grace, and Cink.

• Freshman outside hitter Quinci Thomas recorded a BIG EAST career-high four kills in the duel with the Huskies.

• The Musketeers totaled 44 kills, 39 assists, 57 digs, six block assists, two block solos, and five service aces in the three-set match.

HIGHLIGHTS
