Volleyball Finishes Weekend Undefeated with Providence Sweep

Xavier downs Providence in a straight sets victory
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Xavier volleyball closed the fourth weekend of BIG EAST action with a straight sets (25-17, 31-29, 25-23) win over Providence on Saturday night.
The Musketeers move to 13-6 (6-2 BIG EAST) on the season and the Friars fall to 8-12 (2-6 BIG EAST).
In the second set, Xavier and Providence played to 31-29 and Xavier came out victorious. This set was the longest in BIG EAST play thus far in the 2023 season.

• Delaney Hogan, the senior middle blocker, led the Musketeers' offense with her match-high 10 kills and the team-high hitting percentage of .444. Hogan was followed on offense by redshirt sophomore outside hitters Anna Taylor and Emma Grace with nine kills apiece.
• Senior libero Stevie Wolf and Grace both tallied double-digit digs against the Friars, with Wolf averaging 6.33 digs per set. Grace totaled 11 and Wolf boasted the match-high of 19.
• Carrigan O'Reilly registered four kills with 35 assists and three digs, rasing her career total for assists to 3,987. The graduate setter averaged 11.67 assist per set.
• Hogan, Taylor, and redshirt junior Sarah Stevens all recorded three block assists with O'Reilly contributing two. O'Reilly and junior setter Logan Flaugh were the only Musketeers to tally a block solo against the Friars.
• Four Musketeers tallied service aces - Flaugh and O'Reilly led with two apiece and were followed by junior defensive specialist Lucia Corsaro and Grace with one each.
• The Musketeers totaled 47 kills, 39 assists, 54 digs, 12 block assists, two block solos, and six service aces in the three-set match.

Xavier will return home to host DePaul and (RV) Marquette on October 20 and 21.
