Swimming Takes on Denison in Final Dual of the Fall

Musketeers face Big Red on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
CINCINNATI - Xavier men's and women's swimming travels to Granville, Ohio on Saturday to face off with the Denison Big Red. Events get underway at 1:00 p.m. at Trumbull Aquatics Center.

 MEET NOTES |
- The Big Red opened the season at the Akron Zips Classic, with the men collecting a third place finish and the women placing fifth.
- Denison's women claimed the NCAA DIII Championship last season, the program's second national title.
- The Big Red men finished second at last seasons NCAC Championship, going on to place eighth at the NCAA DIII Championships.
- At last season's dual, Xavier collected 16 first-place finishes at Denison, with the men taking the win, 178-84, while the women fell narrowly, 136-125.

- After setting three top times in the BIG EAST so far this season, sophomore Aiden Leamer earned the first BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week honor of 2023-24 on the men's side, the league office announced on Monday.
- In the season opening meet at the Butler Double Dual, Leamer won the 200 fly and helped Xavier to a first place finish in the 400 medley relay as the Musketeers finished second out of four teams.Â
-  Leamer, originally from Mason, Ohio, picked up a second-place finish in the 200 fly with the fastest time so far this season by a BIG EAST competitor, at 1:50.53 and scored in second in the 100 fly during the dual meet at Louisville.
- At the Akron Zips Classic, Leamer lead Xavier in three individual events, winning the 100 fly with the fastest time by a BIG EAST competitor so far this season, 48.11. Leamer also placed second in the 200 fly and finish third in the 200 IM, helping Xavier to the team win. Leamer also set the top time in the BIG EAST in the 50 free, 20.91, set in the 200 free relay at Akron.
- Women's swimming's Jordyn Libler was named a notable performer as well. Libler, sophomore from Howell, Mich., collected a pair of first place finishes, in the 200 IM and 200 breast at the season opening Butler Double Dual. She took part in the winning 400 medley relay to help Xavier to a first place finish, going 4-0 at the five-team meet.
- At Louisville, Libler lead Xavier in the 100 breast, placing third, and the 200 breast, placing fourth. At the Akron Zips Classic, Libler lead Xavier in the breaststroke events, collecting a pair of second-place finishes, including setting a school-record and BIG EAST leading time in the 100 breast, 1:02.65, and the best time in the BIG EAST so far this season in the 200 breast, 2:25.15. Libler helped Xavier to a third-place team finish at the event.

- At the Akron Zips Classic, Xavier's women finished third with 710 points after two days and three sessions of competition.
- Kali Fischer, Jordyn Libler, Erin Ritz and Olivia Oyster led off the meet with a time of 3:46.85 in the 400 medley relay.
- Clara Keiser posted the top time by a Musketeer int he 500 free, finishing in 5:05.09.
- Kali Fischer's time of 2:05.13 led Xavier in the 200 IM.
- Olivia Oyster's time of 23.46 in the 50 free led the Musketeers
- Xavier's women wrapped up the first day with a third-place finish in the 800 free relay, with Kali Fischer, Olivia Oyster, Alexis Worrall and Clara Keiser setting a time of 7:31.46
- To open the Saturday morning session, the squad of Olivia Oyster, Alexis Worrall, Molly Dynda and Erin Merke led the Musketeers in the 200 free relay, setting a time of 1:35.78.
- Emily Guerrera's time of 4:34.19 in the 400 IM led the Musketeers.
- Erin Ritz placed third in the 100 fly with a time of 55.62.
- Alexis Worrall placed second in the 200 free with a time of 1:52.17. Clara Keiser finished third and Olivia Oyster placed fourth.
- Jordyn Libler set a new school record and placed second in the 100 breast with a time of 1:02.65.
- Reese Turner led Xavier with a time of 56.42 in the 100 back.
- To open the evening session, Reese Turner, Jordyn Libler, Erin Ritz and Olivia Oyster led Xavier with a time of 1:43.93 in the 200 medley relay.
- Sydney Smith set a time of 17:39.66 in the mile to lead Xavier.
- Charlie Ramey led Xavier with a time of 2:03.43 in the 200 back.
- Alexis Worrall set a time of 51.79 in the 100 free to lead the Musketeers.
- Jordyn Libler placed second in the 200 breast with a time of 2:18.68.
- Erin Ritz set a time of 2:05.18 in the 200 fly to lead Xavier
- Xavier's women closed out the meet with Olivia Oyster, Mary Sweetman, Alexis Worrall and Clara Keiser setting a time of 3:28.57 in the 400 free relay.

- Xavier's men won the Akron Zips Classic, collecting 1,203 points over two days, to top Youngstown State and Denison.
- Xavier opened up the meet on the men's side by taking four of the top five spots in the 400 medley relay, with Matt Fralic, Brayden Mandacina, Aiden Leamer and Kyle Hudson placing second with a time of 3:21.76.
- Luke Peterson led Xavier int he 500 free, setting a time of 4:31.20 to place second. Ryan Knipp, Nathan Wall and Caz Mikula finished third through fifth, respectively.
- Michael Benington won the 200 IM with a time of 1:52.46. Aiden Leamer finished third and Jack Parker placed fourth.
- Kyle Hudson led Xavier with a time of 21.10 in the 50 free to place third.
- Xavier closed out Friday's session with a first and third place finish in the 800 free relay, with Kyle Hudson, Ryan Knipp, Nathan Wall and Luke Peterson winning with a time of 6:46.00.
- To open Saturday morning, Xavier took two of the top three spots in the 200 free relay, with Aiden Leamer, Caleb Petranchuk, Matthew Adanin and Colin Jordan taking second with a time of 1:23.38.
- Jack Parker won the 4:00.59 with a time of 4:00.59. Nathan Wall placed second.

- Xavier took the top four spots in the 200 free relay, led by a time of 1:40.67 for Kyle Hudson, followed by Luke Peterson, Ryan Knipp and CJ Sorensen.
- Ethan Saunders placed third in the 100 breast with a time of 56.76.
- Xavier took five of the top six spots in the 100 back, with Michael Benington placing second with a time of 50.77. He was followed in by Gage Hannewyk, Matt Fralic, Matthew Adanin and Aiden Neuman.
- Xavier's men took a second and third place finish in the. 200 medley relay, with Gage Hannewyk, Ethan Saunders, Aiden Leamer and Kyle Hudson placing second with a time of 1:31.08.
- Luke Peterson won the mile with a time of 15:46.21. Ryan Knipp placed third and Caz Mikula placed fourth.
- Michael Benington placed third in the 200 back with a time of 1:52.41. Aiden Neuman placed fourth.
- Kyle Hudson finished second in the 100 free with a time of 45.61.
- Nathan Wall set a time of 2:03.49 in the 200 breast to place second.
- Aiden Leamer placed second in the 200 fly with a time of 1:51.05. Seth Kibler, Jack Parker and Caleb Petranchuk finished third, fourth and fifth respectively.
- Xavier closed out the meet by taking three of the top four spots in the 400 free relay, led by a time of 3:03.57 for Kyle Hudson, Aiden Leamer, CJ Sorensen and Gage Hannewyk.

- Xavier will be back in action next at the CSU Magnus Cup, running from November 16 throught 18 at Busbey Natatorium in Cleveland, Ohio.
- Last season's meet featured Akron, Duquesne, Toledo, Niagara, St. Bonaventure, Indiana University of PA, Canisius College, Case Western, Cleveland State, Gannon and Fairmont State.
- Xavier's men won the 10-team event at CSU last season, collecting 1,076 points.
- The Musketeer women placed third out of 12 teams with 820 points.

- The Xavier men placed second at last season's BIG EAST meet, winning seven events with 10 Musketeers earning All-Conference, led by BIG EAST Most Outstanding Swimmer Andrew Martin.
- The Musketeers return eight All-Conference performers who helped Xavier to seven event wins and a narrow second-place finish. Ethan Saunders led the returnees, earning All-BIG EAST in five events, and Matthew Adanin, Michael Benington, Gage Hannewyk, Kyle Hudson, Aiden Leamer, Jack Parker and Nathan Wall were also named to the all-conference team.
- Xavier also returns an additional six letter winners from last year's squad.
- The Musketeers added nine newcomers to the roster for the 2023-24 season.

- The Xavier women are coming off a fourth-place finish at last season's BIG EAST Championships, returning four Musketeers who earned All-BIG EAST honors, Kali Fischer, Erin Ritz, Olivia Oyster and Clara Keiser.
- The women's roster included 15 letter winners from last season.
- Xavier added six newcomers to the roster for the 2023-24 season.
