Volleyball Tops Seton Hall in Four-Set Match

Sarah Stevens secured a career-high 13 kills in the match
SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Xavier volleyball defeated Seton Hall 3-1 (21-25, 25-16, 25-22, 25-5) for the second time in the 2023 season on Saturday evening.
The Musketeers move to 14-9 (7-5 BIG EAST) on the season and the Pirates fall to 11-12 (5-7 BIG EAST).
The four-set victory was highlighted by the 25-5 fourth set score, reaching the large margin after an 11 point scoring run early in the stanza.

• Sarah Stevens, the redshirt junior middle blocker, and Delaney Hogan, the graduate middle blocker, led the Musketeers' offense with 13 kills apiece and were trailed by graduate setter Carrigan O'Reilly, sophomore outside hitter Caroline Speelman, and redshirt sophomore outside hitter Anna Taylor with eight.
• Three Musketeers recorded hitting percentages of ,400 or higher in the four-set match - O'Reilly hit .400 on eight kills, Hogan reachec .435 on her 13 kills, and Stevens tallied the match-high of .579 on her career-high 13 kills.
• Delaney Hogan led the defensive efforts at the net with match-high of four total blocks, three assists and one solo. Speelman followed with one solo and one assist and Stevens and Taylor posted a pair of assists.
• Senior libero Stevie Wolf led the defensive efforts in the back court with her 16 digs and 13 perfect receptions, and was followed by redshirt sophomore outside hitter Emma Grace with 11 digs and 19 receptions.
• Wolf, Grace, and Speelman combined for four service aces against the Pirates. Wolf captured the match-high of two while Speelman and Grace recorded one each.
• Carrigan O'Reilly totaled 37 assists, raising her career total for assists to 4,115, and tallied 10 digs to earn her 45th career double-double.
• The Musketeers totaled 59 kills, 53 assists, 60 digs, 10 block assists, three block solos, four service aces, and a team hitting percentage of .313 in the four-set match.
