Swimming Closes Out the Fall Schedule at CSU Mangus Cup

Musketeers set to compete three-day meet in Cleveland this weekend
CINCINNATI - Xavier men's and women's swimming will compete in the final full team event of the Fall this weekend, traveling to Cleveland to take part in the CSU Magnus Cup, running from Thursday, November 16 through Saturday, November 18. Prelims will begin at 9 AM every morning and finals are set to begin at 6 PM at Busbey Natatorium.
Xavier is one of 12 schools competing at this year's event. XU last attended the Magnus Cup in last November, with the Musketeer men winning the 10-team event last year, while the Xavier's women finished fourth in the field of 12 last season.

- After collecting nine event wins, Xavier's men took the 142-120 win over Denison on Oct. 28
- Xavier's men opened the meet with a first place finish in the 200 medley relay, with Gage Hannewyk, Ethan Saunders, Aiden Leamer and Kyle Hudson setting a time of 1:33.63.
- Xavier took the top two spots in the 1000 free, with Caz Mikula taking first with a time of 9:43.04 and Ryan Knipp placing second.
- Kyle Hudson set a time of 1:42.91 to win the 200 free. Luke Peterson placed third.
- Matt Fralic led Xavier in the 100 back with a time of 52.91, placing second. Matthew Adanin finished third.
- Ethan Saunders led Xavier in the 100 breast with a time of 59.16.
- Aiden Leamer won the 200 fly with a time of 1:52.14. Jack Parker placed third.
- CJ Sorensen set the top time by a Musketeer in the 50 free, placing second with a time of 21.60. Gage Hannewyk finished third.
- Kyle Hudson also picked up a first place finish in the 100 free, setting a time of 46.89.
- Michael Benington set a time of 1:56.83 to win the 200 back.
- Nathan Wall led Xavier in the 200 breast with a time of 2:08.85.
- Luke Peterson led Xavier in the 500 free, placing second with a time of 4:42.06.
- Xavier took the top two spots in the 100 fly, with Aiden Leamer taking first with a time of 50.30. Caleb Petranchuk finished second.
- Nathan Wall won the 200 IM with a time of 1:56.32. Michael Benington placed third.
- Kyle Hudson, CJ Sorensen, Aiden Leamer and Gage Hannewyk set a time of 3:06.96 in the 400 free relay to take first.
LAST TIME OUT - WOMEN
- Xavier's women collected seven event wins, but fell 140-122 at Denison on Oct. 28.
- Reese Turner, Jordyn Libler, Erin Ritz and Olivia Oyster set a time of 1:45.63 in the 200 medley relay to lead off the meet, finishing second.
- Kali Fischer picked up a second-place finish in the 1000 free, setting a time of 10:32.47. Fischer also placed third in the 500 free with a time of 5:08.13.
- Alexis Worrall won the 200 free with a time of 1:53.70. Clara Keiser placed second.
- Reese Turner led Xavier in the 100 back, placing third with a time of 59.04.
- Jordyn Libler won the 100 breast, setting a time of 1:04.56. She also led Xavier in the 200 breast, placing second with a time of 2:25.32.
- Norah Simich set a time of 2:05.06 in the 200 fly to take the top spot. Erin Ritz placed third.
- Olivia Oyster swept the freestyle sprints, taking first in the 50 free with a time of 23.38 and setting a time of 51.53 to win the 100 free.
- Abby Bocian set a time of 2:07.79 in the 200 back to place second. Julia Sweetman finished third.
- Erin Ritz won the 100 fly with a time of 57.54. Norah Simich placed third.
- Julia Sweetman led Xavier in the 200 IM with a time of 2:10.68, placing second.
- Alexis Worrall, Kali Fischer, Clara Keiser and Olivia Oyster set a time of 3:29.75 to win the 400 free relay.
XAVIER MEN
- The Xavier men placed second at last season's BIG EAST meet, winning seven events with 10 Musketeers earning All-Conference, led by BIG EAST Most Outstanding Swimmer Andrew Martin.
- The Musketeers return eight All-Conference performers who helped Xavier to seven event wins and a narrow second-place finish. Ethan Saunders led the returnees, earning All-BIG EAST in five events, and Matthew Adanin, Michael Benington, Gage Hannewyk, Kyle Hudson, Aiden Leamer, Jack Parker and Nathan Wall were also named to the all-conference team.
- Xavier also returns an additional six letter winners from last year's squad.
- The Musketeers added nine newcomers to the roster for the 2023-24 season.
XAVIER WOMEN

- The Xavier women are coming off a fourth-place finish at last season's BIG EAST Championships, returning four Musketeers who earned All-BIG EAST honors, Kali Fischer, Erin Ritz, Olivia Oyster and Clara Keiser.
- The women's roster included 15 letter winners from last season.
- Xavier added six newcomers to the roster for the 2023-24 season.
