
Musketeers Fall in Overtime at Miami (Ohio)

OXFORD, Ohio - Xavier women's basketball fell in overtime, 58-57, at Miami (Ohio) on Monday night at Millett Hall.
The Musketeers move to 0-6 on the year, while the RedHawks improve to 1-3.
• The game featured six ties and four lead changes. Miami (Ohio) led by as many as 12 points (29-17) with 3:24 left in the first half and took a nine-point lead (29-20) into the locker room.
• Xavier outscored the RedHawks, 20-11, in the third frame on 7-for-14 shooting, tying the game at 40.
• Miami (Ohio) sank a pair of free throws to take a three-point lead, 52-49, with 15 seconds left in regulation. Kaysia Woods hit a three pointer with seven seconds on the clock to tie the game and send it to overtime.
• Xavier led by three points (57-54) with 3:10 left in overtime, but was held scoreless for the remainder of the game as the RedHawks closed the contest by scoring four unanswered points. The Musketeers game-tying three-point attempt from Júlia Garcia Roig fell short as time expired as Miami (Ohio) earned its first win of the season.
• Mackayla Scarlett scored a game-high 22 points on 8-for-21 shooting. She added a career-high eight rebounds, four steals and two assists. The senior guard also made a career and game-high five 3-pointers. She now has two, 20-point games this season.
• Nila Blackford added he second double-double in as many games, scoring 10 points and pulling down a game-high 13 rebounds. She added three assists and two steals. The forward now has 25 career double-doubles.
• Xavier finished the game with a .321 field-goal percentage (18-for-56) and went 9-for-32 from behind the arc. The Musketeers were also 12-for-20 from the charity stripe.
• The RedHawks hit 51.1 percent (24-for-47) of their shot attempts and were 4-for-13 from three-point range. Miami (Ohio) was also 6-for-14 from the foul line.
• Xavier held a 20-16 advantage in points off of turnovers and scored two more fastbreak points (6-4). The Musketeers also won the battle on the glass, 36-33.
• Xavier travels to Arizona for the Briann January Classic on Dec. 1-2. The two-day tournament is being hosted by Arizona State at Desert Financial Arena.
• The Musketeers take on Temple on Friday at 6 PM ET and the host Sun Devils on Saturday at 6 PM ET.
