Makel Rasheed Named to USC All-East Region Team

The defender earned second-team honors for the second time in as many seasons
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Graduate student defender Makel Rasheed was recently named to the United Soccer Coaches All-East Region Team. He earned second-team honors for the second time in as many seasons.
The Rockville, Md., native helped the Musketeers capture the program's first BIG EAST Championship and advance to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2014. Xavier finished the year with a 9-4-6 overall record and was ranked 41st in the NCAA Final RPI Ranking.
Rasheed earned All-BIG EAST First Team honors in 2023 after being tabbed to the second team in 2022. He helped the Musketeers rank second in the conference in goals against average (0.83) and 20th in the NCAA. The Musketeers also led the BIG EAST in shutouts with nine.
The 0.83 goals against average ranks first in program history, while the nine shutouts rank tied for third.
Rasheed was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 31 and eared BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll recognition twice (Oct. 2, Oct. 16).
Rasheed played in 18 matches, making 17 starts. He ranked third on the team in minutes played (1,500) and scored two goals (one game-winning goal).
Rasheed was taken in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft by Nashville FC. He was the 65th overall pick (3rd Round).
