Musketeers Fall at Seton Hall on Saturday Afternoon

Shelby Calhoun led Xavier with 12 points, eight rebounds, five assists and four steals
SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Xavier women's basketball dropped a 72-59 BIG EAST road game at Seton Hall on Saturday afternoon. Xavier moved to 7-19 (0-17 BIG EAST), while the Pirates improved to 17-11 (10-8 BIG EAST).
The game featured three ties and five lead changes. Xavier scored six straight points to end the third quarter, closing within seven points (52-47). Seton Hall outscored Xavier, 20-14, on 9-for-14 shooting in the final quarter to pull away for the 13-point victory.

• Shelby Calhoun led the Musketeers with a season-high 12 points on 5-for-8 shooting. She also led the team in rebounding (8), assists (5) and steals (4). The four steals were also a season high for the junior guard.
• Fernanda Ovalle and Taylor Smith each added eight points, while Nila Blackford and Courtney Prenger each chipped in six points. Blackford added four rebounds.
• Xavier had 10 steals in the game, the team's eighth game of the year with 10 or more steals.
• Xavier posted a .473 field-goal percentage (26-for-55), the team's highest field-goal percentage in a BIG EAST game this season. The 26 made field goals are also the most by the Musketeers in a conference game this season.
• Xavier also finished the game 1-for-6 from behind the arc and 6-for-9 from the foul line. Seton Hall won the battle on the glass, 35-28, and scored two more points off of turnovers (17-15).Â
• Seton Hall hit 50 percent of its shot attempts (31-for-62) and was 5-for-17 from behind the arc. The Pirates also held a 44-40 advantage in points in the paint and scored 15 more fastbreak points (23-8).

• The Musketeers return to action on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at Butler. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. ET from Hinkle Fieldhouse.
