CINCINNATI - Xavier is set for the 2023 BIG EAST Men's Golf Championship Presented by JEEP on April 28-30. The three-day tournament is being held at Riverton Pointe Golf Course in Hardeeville, S.C.

Competition is set to begin at 8 a.m. each day.

LAST TIME OUT

• Xavier placed tied for 15th at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate hosted by Ohio State on April 23. The three-day tournament was held at the OSU Golf Club Scarlet Course.

• The Musketeers posted a 54-hole score of 909 (+57) in a field of 17 teams. Ohio State won the tournament by 19 strokes, recording a score of 854 (+2). Kent State placed second with a score of 873 (+21).

• Justin Gabbard paced the Musketeers, placing tied for 21st with a score of 221 (+8). The 21st place finish is his second highest finish of the season (placed tied for 18th at the UConn Invitational on Oct. 4).

NOTABLES

• Carson Bellish is the highest ranked Musketeer in the most recent BIG EAST GolfStat Rankings, coming in at No. 20. He is the third highest ranked freshman in the conference with an average score of 74.04.

• Carson Bellish has four top-15 finishes this season, all coming this spring. His highest finish was fourth at the Daytona Beach Spring Invitational on March 7. The fourth-place finish is the highest individual finish for a Xavier golfer since Oct. 22, 2019 (Imaad Qureshi placed tied for third at the Musketeer Classic).

• Justin Gabbard ranks 32nd in the BIG EAST GolfStat Rankings (74.96), while Mason Witt ranks 33rd (75.00).

• The Musketeers return all five golfers who participated in the 2022 BIG EAST Championships. Michael Prebles paced the squad with a 21st place finish (219, +3).

• Xavier ranks ninth as a team in the BIG EAST GolfStat Rankings with a scoring average of 298.96.

• Xavier placed fourth at the Golfweek/Any Given Tuesday Intercollegiate on March 29. Xavier posted its highest finish of the 2022-23 season with a score of 866 (+2). The Musketeers now have four top-five finishes dating back to the 2021-22 season.

• Carson Bellish posted his third top-10 of the season at the Golfweek/Any Given Tuesday Intercollegiate, placing tied for third with a score of 210 (-6). The third-place finish is the highest of his career. The third-place finish is also the highest individual finish for a Xavier golfer since Oct. 22, 2019 (Imaad Qureshi placed tied for third at the Musketeer Classic).

• Xavier played in four tournaments in the fall of 2022 with its highest finish coming at the UConn Invitational on Oct. 3-4 (placed sixth out of 14 teams). The Musketeers finished the tournament with a score of 900 (+36).

• The Musketeers return all five golfers who participated in the 2022 BIG EAST Championships. Michael Prebles paced the squad with a 21st place finish (219, +3).

• Brian Arlinghaus enters year two at the helm of the program after being hired on June 18, 2021. He joined the Musketeers after serving as the head men's golf coach at Wright State from 2017-21. He was an assistant coach with the Raiders for two seasons (2015-17) before being promoted to head coach.

UP NEXT

• The BIG EAST Champion earns the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The regionals are set for May 15-17.

• Six 54-hole regional tournaments will be conducted to determine the 30 qualifying teams and six individuals not on those qualifying teams who will compete in the finals. Thirteen teams and 10 individuals not on those teams will compete at each of three regionals while the other three regionals will have 14 teams and five individuals not on those teams. The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams will advance to the finals.

• The finals are May 26-31 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
