Musketeers and Pirates return to Hayden Field at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday

CINCINNATI - Xavier fell in the series opener with Seton Hall, 13-2, on Friday afternoon at Hayden Field. The Musketeers move to 26-16 overall and 7-3 in BIG EAST play.

Seton Hall took the 2-0 lead in the third inning on a pair of solo home runs, then added runs in the fourth and fifth to take a 7-0 lead into the bottom fo the fifth.

Xavier got on the board in the fifth, with Matthew DePrey hitting a two-run homer to left field to cut the lead back to 7-2. The Pirates added a run in the sixth and seventh to take a nine-run lead into the. ninth, adding a pair in the final inning to set the final score at 13-2.

ON THE MOUND

Ethan Bosacker made the start, going 3.0 innings, allowing two earned runs on three hits with two walks, finishing with a strikeout.
Luke Bell entered in the fourth inning, going 3.0 innings, allowing five runs on eight hits with a pair of strikeouts.
Creighton Hansen entered for the seventh, walking both batters he faced.
Jack Niedringhaus entered with two on an no outs in the seventh, going 2.0 innings with one run allowed on two hits and a walk, finishing with one strikeout.
Nathan Stahl pitched the ninth, allowing two earned runs on three hits with a walk.

AT THE PLATE

Matthew DePrey hit his team-high 11th home run of the season, a two-run shot in the fifth. DePrey finished 1-3 with two RBI and one run scored.
Tyler DeMartino (1-3) and Carter Hendrickson (1-4) each recorded a hit.
Grant Stephenson came around to score a run on DePrey's home run.
Xavier finished with three walks, with a pair for Jack Housinger and one for Andrew Walker.
