Xavier defeated the Pirates, 8-7, on Sunday afternoon at Hayden Field

CINCINNATI - Xavier captured the series finale vs Seton Hall, 8-7, on Sunday afternoon at Hayden Field.

The Musketeers improved to 27-17 (8-4 BIG EAST), while the Pirates dropped to 24-19 (7-5 BIG EAST).

Trailing by one run in the bottom of the eighth inning, the Musketeers got solo home runs from Jack Housinger and Andrew Walker to go ahead, 8-7. Justin Loer struck out Oscar Murray on the final play of the game to seal the victory.

Xavier opens an eight-game road trip at Creighton on May 5.

ON THE MOUND

Luke Hoskins started the game and went 3.1 innings, allowing six hits and two runs. The RHP recorded two strikeouts and two walks.
Clay Schwaner pitched 2.2 innings of relief, surrendering four hits and three runs. The RHP threw one strikeout and walked one batter.
Justin Loer (5-3) threw the final three innings, throwing four strikeouts and allowing two runs. The LHP walked three batters and surrendered three hits.

AT THE PLATE

Andrew Walker went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, one home run and one RBI. The outfielder now has six home runs and 16 multi-hit games on the year. The Pittsburgh, Pa., native has reached base safely in 10 straight games.
Jared Cushing went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run and a grand slam. The infielder now has 10 home runs and 12 multi-hit games on the season.
Matt McCormick went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one home run and one run. He now has 11 home runs on the year. The Chicago, Ill., native leads the team in multi-hit games with 17.
Jack Housinger went 1-for-3 with two runs and a home run. He now has 11 home runs on the year.
Matthew DePrey went 1-for-5 at the plate, extending his team-leading active hit streak to seven games.
