LAST TIME OUT

• Xavier competed at the Drake Relays on April 27-29 and the Clark Wood Invitational on April 28-29.

• Xavier had 16 top-15 finishes at the Clark Wood Invitational. Liam Willman (400-meter hurdles) and Jackson Triplett (5,000-meter run) paced the men's side with eighth-place finishes. On the women's side, Grace Zdankiewicz placed second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

• Claire Sievern won the 800-meter run at the Drake Relays, posting a school record time of 2:07.93. She was competing in the university/college division race of the event. The Evansville, Ind., native broke her own school record in the 800-meter run, previously posting a time of 2:08.60 at the Raleigh Relays on March 25, 2023.

• Claire Sievern also set the school record in the 1,500-meter run at the Drake Relays. She posted a time of 4:24.46, placing sixth in the race.

• Trevor Nolan placed 15th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a school-record time of 8:58.57 at the Drake Relays. The previous record was set by Thomas Ohlman (9:00.57 - 2015).

• Jamie Klavon placed fifth in the unseeded section of the 5,000-meter run (17:18.16) at the Drake Relays, the highest finish by a freshman in the race.

COACH BURROUGHS

• Sam Burroughs was named the new head coach for cross country/track and field on Jan. 4, 2021. He joined the Musketeers after previously working as associate head coach at Cincinnati from 2013-20.

• Burroughs has over 20 years of collegiate experience. He has coached 96 individual conference champions and 46 individual NCAA qualifiers, while leading 18 teams to conference championship titles.

• The NCAA East preliminary is being held on May 24-27 in Jacksonville, Fla. The NCAA Championships are being held on June 7-10 in Austin, Texas.
