Deacon Thomas Named to All-BIG EAST Second Team

NEW YORK - After winning 14 combined matches during his rookie season, Xavier men's tennis' Deacon Thomas was named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team.

Thomas, a freshman from Houston, Texas, was a unanimous selection by the league coaches after earning a 9-5 record playing in the top two singles spots. Thomas played 12 matches at No. 2, earning an 8-3 record. He also played seven matches in the No. 1 spot, finishing with a 1-2 record in those matches.

Among those singles wins were BIG EAST wins in the No. 1 spot against Marquette's Stefan Dragovic, winning in straight sets, and in the No. 2 spot against Butler and Creighton.

Thomas also collected five doubles wins, including four in the No. 1 spot. Among those wins were victories over Dayton, Toledo, IUPUI and NKU.
