Musketeers and Cardinals get underway at 7:30 PM at Corcoran Field
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's soccer (1-0-0) returns to Corcoran Field on Sunday evening, hosting the Louisville Cardinals at 7:30 PM. The match with UofL will be live streamed on FloSports.
The Musketeers, who recieved votes in the USC Preseason Poll, opened up the season with a 2-0 win over Northeastern on Thursday evening.

- Louisville opened the season with a 0-0 draw against Indiana State on Thursday night. The Cardinals held a 23-0 shot advantage over the Sycamores but could not break through on goal.
- Louisville went 6-8-2 last season with a 3-7 record in ACC play.

- Xavier took a 2-1 win over the Cardinals in 2022 in Louisville, with Avery Lockwood tying the match in the 52nd minute and Simone Rivard-Roberts scoring the game winner in the 76th minute.

- The Musketeers opened up the 2023-24 Xavier Athletics season with a win, taking down Northeastern, 2-0, at Corcoran Field on Thursday evening.
- Xavier took a 1-0 lead about 20 minutes into the match, with Samantha Wiehe scoring from Kennedy Clark and Olivia Lawson, taking the lead into the locker room at halftime.
- Clark picked up two more points about 10 minutes into the second half, scoring off an assist from Emma Flick to make it a 2-0 lead.Â
- The Musketeers held the Huskies to five shots total, with just two on frame, and did not allow a NU chance in the first half.
- Clark collected three points in her collegiate debut, on a goal and an assist.
- Wiehe finished with two points on a goal after leading the Musketeers with three shots, two on frame, in her first game as a Musketeer.
- Lawson and Flick each picked up a point on an assist.
- Maria Galley picked up the shutout win in-goal, her 12th shutout during her Xavier career.
- The Musketeers finished with an 11-5 advantage on shots, 7-2 on shots on-goal, and a 5-2 advantage on corner kicks.
- Xavier's win marks the sixth time in Nate Lie's seven years as head coach that the Musketeers opened the season with a win.

 2022 SEASON |
- The Musketeers, who are receiving votes in the USC Preseason Poll, are coming off a 14-4-5 season in 2022, going 6-0-4 in BIG EAST play to finish second in the league standings, marking the first unbeaten conference slate in program history.
- Xavier earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Championship for a second-straight season, the program's fifth NCAA bid overall.
- In the NCAA Tournament, Xavier advanced for the second time in program history with a 4-1 double overtime win at Tennessee in the first round.

 THE MUSKETEERS |
- The Musketeers return 19 letterwinners in all from last season, and added a pair of transfers in addition to a 10-person freshman class for the 2023 season.
- Xavier returns a trio of all-conference honorees from last season, with goalkeeper Maria Galley and defender Natalie Bain earning All-BIG EAST Second Team and All-Freshman Team honors, and forward Regan Dancer picking up a nod to the All-Freshman squad.
- Bain and junior midfielder Ella Rogers were selected to the 2023 Preseason All-BIG EAST Team.Â

- Xavier wraps up a three-game home stand to open the season on Thursday, August 24, hosting Illinois at 7:00 PM. The game with the Illini is game two of doubleheader with Xavier men's soccer, which hosts Wright State at 3:00 PM.
- The Illini opened the season with a 3-2 win over Loyola Chicago on Thursday.
- Illinois went 7-7-4 last season with a 2-5-3 record in Big Ten play.
- Xavier is 1-2 all time against the Illini.
