Swimming Travels to Louisville for First Dual Meet of the Season

Musketeers and Cardinals set to face off on Friday at 3 PM
CINCINNATI - Xavier men's and women's swimming will travel to the University of Louisville to compete in the first dual meet of the season, facing the Cardinals on Friday, September 29, at the Ralph Wright Natatorium. Events are scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m.

- The meet with the Musketeers is Louisville's first competition of the season.
- Both UofL squads finished third at last season's ACC Championships. The women's squad placed fourth at the 2023 NCAA Championships, while the men finished 13th.
- Xavier faced the Cardinals to open the dual schedule in 2022-23, with the women falling 181-78 and the men falling 169-89.

- At the Butler Double Dual, the Xavier women won eight of 11 events, going 4-0 in head-to-head match-ups. The Musketeers topped Saint Louis (148.50-90.50), UIndy (181-54), Butler (181.50-41.50) and Bellarmine (194-29).
- Xavier took the top two spots in the 400 medley relay, with Kali Fischer, Jordyn Libler, Erin Ritz and Olivia Oyster setting a time of 3:51.42 to place first.
- Abby Bocian placed second in the 1000 free with a time of 10:55.73.
- Xavier had three of the top four finishers in the 200 free, led by Clara Keiser who set a time of 1:56.56 to place second. Alexis Worrall placed third and Mary Sweetman finished fourth.
- Olivia Oyster won the 50 free with a time of 24.70.
- Jordyn Libler took the top spot in the 200 IM, finishing in a time of 2:11.58. Libler also won the 200 breast, finishing in 2:24.33.
- Xavier swept the top three spots in the 200 fly, with Norah Simich winning with a time of 2:05.54. Erin Ritz placed second and Ava Tenhundfeld finished third.
- Reese Turner won the 100 free with a time of 54.33. Clara Keiser tied for second.
- Musketeers claimed the top four spots in the 200 back, led by Kali Fischer, who finished in a time of 2:04.07. Charlie Ramey, Julia Sweetman and Abby Bocian followed her in.
- Mary Sweetman led Xavier in the 500 free, placing second with a time of 5:19.37.
- The Musketeers closed out the meet with another first place finish, with Olivia Oyster, Clara Keiser, Alexis Worrall and Kali Fischer taking the 400 free in a time of 3:33.06.

- Xavier's men won five of 11 racing events at the Butler Double Dual, placing second with a 2-1 record, including head-to-head wins over Bellarmine (173-32) and Saint Louis (141-90). The Musketeers fell narrowly to UIndy (120.50-116.50).
- Matthew Adanin, Ethan Saunders, Aiden Leamer and Kyle Hudson opened the meet on the men's side with a win in the 400 medley relay, setting a time of 3:27.55.
- Ryan Knipp led Xavier in the 1000 free, placing second with a time of 9:52.43.
- Kyle Hudson tied for the top spot in the 200 free, setting a time of 1:43.14. Luke Peterson placed third.
- CJ Sorensen won the 50 free, setting a time of 21.70.
- Michael Benington placed second in the 200 IM, setting a time of 1:57.59. Benington also led Xavier in the 200 back with a time of 1:56.97, placing fourth.
- Aiden Leamer won the 200 fly, setting a time of 1:52.89. Seth Kibler placed second.
- CJ Sorensen led Xavier in the 100 free, finishing second with a time of 47.48. Gage Hannewyk finished third.
- Luke Peterson placed second in the 500 free with a time of 4:43.23. Ryan Knipp placed third.
- Nathan Wall finished second in the 200 breast with a time of 2:08.50.
- Kyle Hudson, CJ Sorensen, Gage Hannewyk and Ethan Saunders closed out the meet with a first place finish in the 400 free relay, setting a time of 3:09.76.

- The Xavier men placed second at last season's BIG EAST meet, winning seven events with 10 Musketeers earning All-Conference, led by BIG EAST Most Outstanding Swimmer Andrew Martin.
- The Musketeers return eight All-Conference performers who helped Xavier to seven event wins and a narrow second-place finish. Ethan Saunders led the returnees, earning All-BIG EAST in five events, and Matthew Adanin, Michael Benington, Gage Hannewyk, Kyle Hudson, Aiden Leamer, Jack Parker and Nathan Wall were also named to the all-conference team.
- Xavier also returns an additional six letter winners from last year's squad.
- The Musketeers added nine newcomers to the roster for the 2023-24 season.

- The Xavier women are coming off a fourth-place finish at last season's BIG EAST Championships, returning four Musketeers who earned All-BIG EAST honors, Kali Fischer, Erin Ritz, Olivia Oyster and Clara Keiser.
- The women's roster included 15 letter winners from last season.
- Xavier added six newcomers to the roster for the 2023-24 season.

- Next up, Xavier will host an Alumni Meet at Heidt Family Champions Center on October 7, set to begin at 10:00 AM
- The Musketeers will host a meet for the current squad to compete against program alumni at the Heidt Family Champions Center on Xavier's campus.
- Following the Alumni Meet, Xavier will travel to the Akron Invite, held at Ocasek Natatorium on October 13-14.
- This year's two-day event will feature Akron, Youngstown State, Bowling Green and Denison.
- Last season, the two teams won four events championships as Xavier's women finished in fifth, collecting 268.5 points, while the Xavier's men finished in third, collecting 926.5 points.
