Xavier falls, 61-47, on Saturday afternoon at Cintas Center
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's basketball dropped a 61-47 BIG EAST contest vs Seton Hall on Saturday afternoon at Cintas Center.
Xavier moved to 1-13 (0-5 BIG EAST) on the year, while the Pirates improved to 11-6 (3-3 BIG EAST).
The game featured six lead changes and three ties.
Xavier took at two-point lead (37-35) on an Aizhanique Mayo three pointer with 4:50 left in the third quarter. The Pirates closed the frame on a 10-0 run to regain a lead they would not relinquish.
Seton Hall scored four unanswered points to open the fourth quarter to take a double-figure advantage. The Pirates outscored Xavier, 16-10, in the final quarter to pull away for the 14-point victory.
• Aizhanique Mayo led three Musketeers in double-figure scoring with 14 points on 5-for-9 shooting. The freshman guard hit four 3-pointers and pulled down two rebounds. She has scored 14 points in a game three times this season.
• Tae'lor Purvis scored 10 points, her second straight game in double figures. The senior guard added three rebounds, three assists and two steals.
• Júlia Garcia Roig added 10 points on 3-for-6 shooting, her second game of the season with 10 points. The freshman guard added two rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block.
• Nila Blackford pulled down a team-high six rebounds. The senior forward added two points, two blocks, one steal and one assist.
• Aanaya Harris finished with four points, five rebounds and one assist in 24 minutes of action off the bench. Daniela López chipped in three points, four rebounds, three assist sand two steals.
• Xavier finished the game with a .354 field-goal percentage (17-for-48) and went 9-for-23 from behind the arc, the team's third game of the year with nine or more three pointers. The Musketeers were also 4-for-7 from the foul line.
