Men's Basketball Hosts No. 4 UConn On Wednesday Night

Musketeers are hoping for similar success to last season's meetings.
CINCINNATI --- The Xavier University Musketeers, 7-7 overall and 1-2 in the BIG EAST Conference, host the defending National Champion University of Connecticut Huskies, 13-2 overall and 3-1 in the BIG EAST on Wednesday night at 8:30 p.m. at Cintas Center. XU has not played since falling last Wednesday at Villanova, 66-65.
No. 4 UConn is the third team Xavier has played this season from the top four teams in the current AP Top 25, having already played at No. 1 Purdue and vs. No. 2 Houston. Xavier won both games last season vs. UConn.

• Xavier is second in the BIG EAST and 25th in the nation in assists at 17.2 apg. XU leads the BIG EAST and is 19th in the nation in fast break points at 15.9 ppg.
• Xavier, which is No. 22 in adjusted defensive ranking in the latest KenPom rankings, is ranked second in the BIG EAST in field goal percentage defense at 39.7 percent and first in 3-point percentage defense at 29.6 percent.

• Xavier graduate student Quincy Olivari is second in the BIG EAST in scoring at 17.9 ppg., including 23.2 ppg. over the last six games. He is third in the BIG EAST in 3-point field goals per game at 2.79 and second in 3-point percentage at 41.1 percent (39-95).
• Xavier senior Dayvion McKnight leads the BIG EAST and is 15th in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio at 3.65. He is fourth in the BIG EAST in assists at 5.2 per game.
• Xavier sophomore Desmond Claude, a Connecticut native, is second on the team in scoring at 14.8 ppg. (14th in the BIG EAST), second in assists at 3.7 apg. (11th in the BIG EAST) and third in rebounding at 4.9 rpg. Claude recorded his first career double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds at St. John's on Dec. 20.
• Xavier senior Abou Ousmane has recorded two double-doubles in the last five games, including 16 points and 10 rebounds with five blocks in the win over Seton Hall on Dec. 23. Ousmane is fifth in the BIG EAST in blocks at 1.57 bpg.
