Musketeers set to compete in three-day meet in Cleveland this weekend
CINCINNATI - Xavier men's and women's swimming will compete in the final full team event of the Fall this weekend, traveling to Cleveland to take part in the CSU Magnus Cup, running from Thursday, November 21 through Saturday, November 23. Prelims will begin at 9 AM every morning and finals are set to begin at 6 PM at Busbey Natatorium.
Xavier is one of 14 schools competing at this year's event. At last season's meet, Xavier's men placed second place finish while the women finished seventh.

LAST TIME OUT - MEN
- Xavier's men won all 14 events against NKU, taking a 838-440 win over the Norse.
- Matt Fralic, Brayden Mandacina, Aiden Leamer and Kyle Hudson combined for a time of 1:33.39 in the 200 medley relay to open the meet with a win.
- Owen Schwebach set a time of 9:51.34 in the 1000 free to take the top spot.
- Kyle Hudson won the 200 free with a time of 1:43.47.
- Gage Hannewyk took first in the 100 back, setting a time of 51.31. Hannewyk also won the 100 free, setting a time of 47.02.
- Matthew Scicchitano used a time of 59.71 to take first in the 100 breast.
- Brayden Mandacina won the 200 fly, setting a time of 1:59.72. He also took first in the 200 breast with a time of 2:10.46.
- Ethan Saunders finished the 50 free in 21.56 to take first.
- Ryan Knipp's time of 1:56.27 was good for first place in the 200 back.
- Nate Finnegan won the 500 free in a time of 4:48.26.
- Aiden Leamer set a time of 49.03 in the 100 fly to take first.
- Nathan Wall won the 200 IM, finishing in 1:58.19.
- Brandon Malicki, Matt Fralic, Kyle Hudson and Aiden Leamer won the 200 free relay with a time of 1:25.45.
LAST TIME OUT - WOMEN
- The Musketeer women won all 14 races in the meet against NKU, finishing with the 887-28 win.
- The relay squad of Abby Bocian, Ally Zaleski, Norah Simich and Olivia Oyster won the 200 medley relay, setting a time of 1:47.52.
- Maggie O'Toole placed first in the 1000 free with a time of 11:05.61.
- Mary Sweetman collected a first-place finish in the 200 free, setting a time of 1:57.15.
- Julia Sweetman used a time of 59.66 in the 100 back to take first place. Sweetman also won the 200 IM with a time of 2:11.52.
- Olivia Oyster won the 100 breast with a time of 1:07.28. Oyster also collected a first-place finish in the 100 free with a time of 51.02.
- Erin Ritz set a time of 2:05.45 to place first in the 200 fly.
- Alexis Worrall won the 50 free, setting a time of 24.45.
- Abby Bocian took first in the 200 back, setting a time of 2:07.13. She also won the the 500 free with a 5:17.57 time.
- Karlie Dodd won the 200 breast in a time of 2:27.43.
- Teegan Madara placed first in the 100 fly, with a time of 1:01.52.
- Maddy Lathrop, Julia Sweetman, Maggie O'Toole and Olivia Oyster closed out the meet with a time of 1:49.18 in the 200 free relay to take first.
XAVIER MEN
- Eight of the 10 Musketeers who earned All-BIG EAST last season return for Xavier.Â
- Ethan Saunders earned the honor in six events to lead the Musketeers.
- Returner Aiden Leamer also earned all-conference in multiple events and set an NCAA B-Cut time in the 200 fly.
- All-BIG EAST honorees Matthew Adanin, Gage Hannewyk, Kyle Hudson, Ryan Knipp, Luke Peterson and Nathan Wall also return for the Musketeers.
- Xavier collected 10 gold medals at last season's BIG EAST Championships including going 5-for-5 on first place finishes in relays, finishing runners-up in the team standings.
XAVIER WOMEN
- Xavier returns six of the nine Musketeers that earned All-BIG EAST last season.Â
- Olivia Oyster led the Musketeers with all-conference performances in five events in 2023-24, including posting an NCAA B-Cut time in the 50 free.
- Jordyn Libler and Erin Ritz each earned All-BIG EAST and each set a pair of NCAA B-Cut times at the event as well.
- All-BIG EAST honorees Norah Simich, Reese Turner, Alexis Worrall also return this season.
- At last year's BIG EAST Championships, the Musketeer women collected a program-best five gold medals and set new program records nine events on the way to a fourth-place finish.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
- Cincinnati, Ohio Xavier returns to action on Friday, January 17 when the Musketeers travel across town to take on Cincinnati. Events begin at 3:00 p.m. at the Keating Aquatic Center.
- Both Cincinnati squads finished fourth at the Big 12 Championships in the program's first season in the conference.
- At last season's dual, Xavier's women collected four event wins, but fell 211-83, while the men fell, 231-63.
BIG EAST CHAMPIONSHIPS
- The 2025 BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Championships have been moved up to start on Monday, February 24, 2025Â and run through Thursday, February 27.
- The championship meet will be held at the SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio, just outside of Cleveland, for the first time since 2021.
