Christie Posts Career High in Road Loss at Kent State

The forward scored a career-high 19 points on Saturday afternoon
KENT, Ohio - Xavier women's basketball dropped an 89-69 contest at Kent State on Saturday afternoon at the M.A.C. Center.
The Musketeers moved to 3-2 on the year, while the Golden Flashes improved to 3-3.
Xavier returns to action vs Youngstown State on Tuesday, Nov. 26. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. from Cintas Center.

NOTABLE
- Xavier jumped out to an early 4-2 lead before the Golden Flashes scored eight straight points to take a six-point lead. Aizhanique Mayo sank a three pointer with 1:54 left in the first quarter to regain the Xavier lead, 18-17. Kent State responded by scoring seven unanswered points to end the frame, taking a 24-18 lead.
- The Golden Flashes led by as many as 15 points (41-26) with 1:49 left in the first half. Kent State outscored Xavier, 17-12, in the second quarter to take an 11-point lead into the locker room.
- Kent State pushed its lead out to 20 points (58-38) with 2:41 on the clock in the third quarter and took a 14-point advantage into the final frame (60-46). Xavier closed within 11 points on an Aizhanique Mayo three pointer with 9:08 left in regulation, but the Golden Flashes outscored Xavier 29-20 to end the contest and seal the 20-point victory.
- Loren Christie scored a career-high 19 points on 7-for-14 shooting. She added four rebounds and two blocks. She now has 17 career double-figure scoring games.
- Meri Kanerva matched her season high in scoring with 14 points on 6-for-12 shooting. She now has three double-figure scoring games this season. The guard added a team-high five assists.
- Aizhanique Mayo posted 10 points, two steals and two rebounds. The guard hit a team-high two 3-pointers.
- Tae'lor Purvis posted a game-high five steals and a team-high five rebounds. The guard added five points and two assists.
- Júlia Garcia Roig finished with six points, two assist and one rebound. Daniela López added five points and one block. Petra Oborilova finished with four points and four rebounds.
- Xavier had 10 steals in the game. The Musketeers have had 10 or more steals in all five games this season.
- Xavier finished the game with a .409 field-goal percentage (27-for-66) and went 6-for-25 from behind the arc. The Musketeers were also 9-for-11 from the foul line.
- Kent State hit 53.6 percent (30-for-56) of its shot attempts and went 13-for-25 from behind the arc. The Golden Flashes were also 16-for-17 from the foul line.
- Xavier forced 19 turnovers, converting the miscues into 26 points. The Musketeers also scored 12 more points in the paint (38-26) and scored eight more bench points (24-16).
- Kent State scored five more second-chance points (9-4) and held a 12-8 advantage in fastbreak points.
