CINCINNATI - Meri Kanerva scored a game-high 17 points on Tuesday night, leading the Musketeers to a 61-43 win over Youngstown State at Cintas Center.
Xavier improved to 4-2 on the year, while the Penguins dropped to 4-2.
Xavier returns to action at Eastern Michigan on Sunday, Dec. 1. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m. from the Gervin GameAbove Center.

- Xavier never trailed in contest and raced out to an early 22-12 lead after one quarter of play behind a .667 field-goal percentage (8-for-12). The Musketeers took an eight-point lead (33-25) into the locker room.
- The Musketeers outscored Youngstown State, 18-8, in the third quarter to regain a double-figure advantage they would never relinquish. Xavier led by as many as 23 points (61-38) with 6:24 left in regulation.
- Meri Kanerva scored a game and career-high 17 points. The freshman guard was 6-for-13 from the floor and sank a game-high four 3-pointers. She also dished out a game-high five assists and posted three steals and two rebounds.
- Loren Christie finished with six points and a game-high seven rebounds. The forward added three assists and one block.
- Júlia Garcia Roig scored nine points on 4-for-6 shooting in 26 minutes of action off the bench. The sophomore guard added two assists and two steals.
- Daniela López posted eight points on 3-for-5 shooting in 13 minutes of action off the bench. She added two steals and one assist.
- Aizhanique Mayo and Irune Orio both scored seven points. Orio added four rebounds.
- Tae'lor Purvis scored five points and recorded a game-high four steals.
- Xavier posted a season-high 14 steals. The Musketeers have recorded 10 or more steals in every game this season.
- Xavier forced 29 Penguin turnovers, converting the miscues into 22 points. Xavier scored 11 more bench points (23-14) than Youngstown State and scored 14 more points in the paint (30-16).
- Youngstown State won the battle on the glass, 36-30, and scored five more second-chance points (7-2). The Penguins also scored five more fastbreak points (15-10) than Xavier.
- Xavier posted a .423 field-goal percentage (22-for-52) and went 7-for-18 from behind the arc. The Musketeers were also 10-for-18 from the foul line.
- Xavier limited the Penguins to a .390 field-goal percentage (16-for-41). Youngstown State was also 3-for-19 from behind the arc and 8-for-20 from the foul line.
