Musketeers advance to play Michigan in the Championship game on Wednesday

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Five Musketeers reached double figures on Monday evening as No. 22 Xavier took a 75-66 win over South Carolina in the opening game of the Fort Myers Tip-Off.

The Musketeers improved to 6-0, while South Carolina moved to 3-3 on the season.

Xavier will face Michigan in the Fort Myers Tip-Off Beach Division Championship game on Wednesday, November 27 at 8:30 p.m. on FS1.

NOTABLE

Zach Freemantle finished with a game-high 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting after leading the Musketeers with 10 first half points. Freemantle also led the Musketeers with nine rebounds.
Dailyn Swain finished with 14 points, grabbed six rebounds and had a career-best five steals, the most for a Musketeer since Souley Boum had five against Morgan State during the 2022-23 season.
Ryan Conwell had 13 points after leading Xavier with 11 in the second half, going 2-of-3 from three after halftime. He's reached double figures in all six games this season.
Dayvion McKnight had 11 points, had five rebounds and a game-high three assists.
Jerome Hunter finished with 10 points after scoring eight in the second half, shooting 3-of-4 from the floor after halftime.
The Musketeers grabbed nine offensive boards in the first half and had an 8-0 advantage on second chance points before halftime.
Xavier opened the game on a 7-0 run before South Carolina scored 17 straight to take a 10-point lead, the Gamecock's largest of the game, midway through the first half.
The Musketeers opened the second half with a 13-4 run to retake the lead. South Carolina would tie the game at 42-42 with 15 minute remaining before Xavier built the lead out to as many as 11 before winning by nine.
Xavier shot 44.4 percent overall from the floor, connecting at 54.8 percent in the second half. South Carolina shot 42.6 overall from the floor, and connected on 47.8 of its first-half shots.
The Musketeers out-rebounded the Gamecocks 41-31 overall and had a 12-4 advantage on the offensive glass, leading to a 12-6 advantage on second-chance points.
South Carolina had 12 turnovers to Xavier's 10, but the Musketeers were able to outscore the Gamecocks 20-8 on points off miscues. Xavier also had a 21-10 advantage on fast-break points.
Xavier moved to 2-0 all-time against South Carolina.
