Erbach, Hansson score as Musketeers move on to Championship match for third-straight year
BOYDS, Md. - Xavier women's soccer advanced to the 2024 BIG EAST Championship match after taking a 2-0 win over DePaul in the semifinals on Thursday evening in Boyds, Md. The Musketeers moved to 15-3-2 with the win.
The match went into the break still scoreless, with Xavier holding a 9-0 advantage on shots in the first 45 minutes, led by two each for Regan Dancer and Olivia Lawson.
Shortly after the break, the Musketeers broke through, with Samantha Erbach score from outside the penalty box, from Samantha Wiehe, to put the Musketeers in front 1-0.
Less than a minute later, crosses from Regan Dancer and Samantha Erbach set up Elin Hansson in front of the net for a goal to double the lead to 2-0.
The Musketeer defense limited DePaul to four shots overall, and just one shot on-goal, collected by Maria Galley to pick up the shutout, Xavier's 10th of the season.
Xavier advances to the 2024 BIG EAST Championship match, set for Sunday, Nov. 10Â at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, Md. The Musketeers will face the winner of the semifinal match between No. 1 seed Georgetown and No. 5 UConn played on Thursday evening, with the Championship match set for an 11:00 a.m. start on FS1.
