Ryan Conwell leads three Musketeers in double figures with 17 points

FORT WORTH, Texas - Xavier men's basketball erased an eight-point halftime deficit to lead by as many as six in the second half at TCU, but fell to the Horned Frogs, 76-72, in the BIG EAST-Big 12 Battle on Thursday evening.

The Musketeers moved to 7-2 on the season, while the Horned Frogs improved to 5-3 with the win.

Xavier return home to host Morgan State on Tuesday, December 10. The Musketeers and the Bears get underway at 7:00 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.

NOTABLE

Ryan Conwell led all scorers with 17 points, connecting on four three pointers. He also grabbed five rebounds and led Xavier with six assists.
Zach Freemantle finished with 16 points after leading Xavier with 10 points in the first half. Freemantle connected on 8-of-9 two-point field goals. He also led the Musketeers with six rebounds.
Dailyn Swain added 12 points for the Musketeers, going 5-of-5 from the floor, including hitting a three as time expired.
Dante Maddox Jr. added nine points on three three-pointers and matched Freemantle for team-high with six rebounds.
Each team had 31 rebounds, with 21 defensive boards and 10 offensive rebounds for each team. Xavier had a 13-9 advantage on second-chance points.
Xavier had a 15 turnovers to eight for TCU, with the Horned Frogs holding a 13-3 advantage on steals. TCU finished with a 19-11 advantage on points off turnovers.
Xavier shot 48.3 percent from the floor, connecting on 28-of-58 shots, including nine threes, while TCU hit 46.7 from the floor, connecting on 28-of-60 shots, including six threes. Both teams shot 77.8 from the free throw line, with Xavier going 7-of-9 and the Horned Frogs going 14-of-18.
Xavier scored the opening bucket to take a 2-0 lead before an 8-0 run for TCU put the Horned Frogs in front for the rest of the first half, leading by as many as 11 before going into halftime up eight.
The Musketeers opened the second half on a 7-2 run to make it a one-possession game, then used another 11-3 run to move in front with 12 minutes to play. Xavier led by as many as six in the final 10 minutes after a 9-0 run, but a late 9-0 run for the Horned Frogs put TCU back in front late.
The series with TCU is now even at 2-2.
Xavier moved to 4-2 in BIG EAST-Big 12 Battle games.
