LOUISVILLE, Ky. -  Xavier baseball picked up its first win of the season, topping the Louisville Cardinals 9-1 at Jim Patterson Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

In the fourth, Matt McCormick hit an RBI double to drive in Carter Hendrickson to extend the lead back to three, 4-1, and Luke Hammond's third long-ball of the season pushed the Xavier lead out to 5-1 in the fifth.
The four run lead held into the eighth when Xavier extended its advantage on a Jared Cushing RBI double, driving in DePrey, who led off the inning with a walk, to make it a 6-1 Xavier lead.
