Baseball Falls at No. 7 Tennessee

Musketeers return home to host VCU for three games, starting Friday
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -Â Xavier baseball fell in a midweek match-up at No. 7 Tennessee, 10-2, on Tuesday evening at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. The Musketeers moved to 9-12 on the season.
Tennessee took the lead on a two-run homer in the bottom of the first. In the fourth, Carter Hendrickson hit a two-out double, then scored on a single from Connor Misch to cut the lead in half, 2-1.
After Xavier cut the lead in half, the Volunteers responded with a three-run bottom of the frame to extend the lead to 5-1.
Aedan Anderson led off the the fifth with a single and Jared Cushing got aboard with a walk. Both runners advanced on a sac bunt from Donavan Canterberry, and Anderson came home on a ground out from Luke Hammond to make it 5-2.
Tennessee added runs in the seventh and eighth to set the final score at 10-2.
Next up, Xavier returns to Hayden Field to host VCU for a three-game series, starting on Friday, March 22 and running through Sunday, March 24.
