Musketeers return home to host VCU for three games, starting Friday
Tennessee took the lead on a two-run homer in the bottom of the first. In the fourth, Carter Hendrickson hit a two-out double, then scored on a single from Connor Misch to cut the lead in half, 2-1.
After Xavier cut the lead in half, the Volunteers responded with a three-run bottom of the frame to extend the lead to 5-1.
Aedan Anderson led off the the fifth with a single and Jared Cushing got aboard with a walk. Both runners advanced on a sac bunt from Donavan Canterberry, and Anderson came home on a ground out from Luke Hammond to make it 5-2.
Tennessee added runs in the seventh and eighth to set the final score at 10-2.
Next up, Xavier returns to Hayden Field to host VCU for a three-game series, starting on Friday, March 22 and running through Sunday, March 24.

- Nolan Hughes come on with one on and two outs in the seventh. He faced four batters, allowing one run on one hit and three walks.
- Matthew Aukerman entered for the final out of the seventh, getting out of the inning with a strikeout. he went 1.0 inning, allowing two earned runs on two walks, not giving up a hit, and struck out three in his Xavier debut.
- Ashton Chronister entered with two on and two outs in the eighth, aloowing one run on one hit and one walk.
