Baseball Falls in the First of Two Games at LA Tech

Musketeers and Bulldogs play game two on Wednesday at 7 PM ET
RUSTON, La. - Xavier baseball fell in the first of two games at Louisiana Tech, 11-3, on Tuesday evening at Pat Patterson Park. The Musketeers moved to 6-6 on the season.
The Bulldogs took a three-run lead in the first, but the Musketeers chipped away at it, scoring runs in the second and third. In the second, Aedan Anderson hit a single up the middle, then scored on a double from Garrett Schultz. In the third, Matt McCormick got aboard with a single, then scored when Hayden Christiansen put the ball into play and reached on an error.
LA Tech added runs in the third, fourth and sixth innings, stretching the lead out to 10-2 which held into the seventh.Â
Matthew DePrey led off the top of the seventh with a single, moved to third on a double from Connor Misch and scored on a sac fly from Isaac Wachsmann to cut the Bulldogs lead back to 10-3, but LA Tech got the run back in the bottom of the frame, setting the final score at 11-3.
The Musketeers and the Bulldogs will play a second game on Wednesday, March 6, set for a 7:00 p.m. ET start.

- Jimmy Starnes made his first appearance as a Musketeer, entering for the final out of the sixth and going the final 2.1 innings with just one run scored, unearned, on four hits and three walks with a pair of strikeouts.
