Baseball Adds Three for 2025 Season

Head coach Billy O’Conner signs two more freshman, adds grad transfer for next season
CINCINNATI – Xavier baseball head coach Billy O'Conner announced the addition of three Musketeers set to join the program in the 2024-25 academic year. O'Conner added a pair of incoming freshmen, JD Crisp and Aidan Forrest, as well as a graduate transfer Joseph Chavana, who comes to Xavier from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.
JD Crisp is an outfielder from Cypress, Texas who attends Second Baptist School in Houston.
Crisp plays for head coach Rayner Noble at Second Baptist and has spent three seasons as part of the varsity program, helping the team to a State Championship in 2021-22. So far during his prep career, Crisp has earned First Team All-State and All-District honors, and was named the district MVP. He has also played three seasons of varsity football at Second Baptist.
Crisp plans to major in sport management at Xavier. He is the son of Joshua Demond Crisp and Beth Ann Crisp and has three siblings, Jada, Justice and Olivia. His father played college football and ran track at Upper Iowa.
Aidan Forrest is an infielder and right-handed pitcher from Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., who attends IMG Academy.
Forrest plays for head coach Jake Welch at IMG, and has been a four-year starter, playing on the IMG National Black team in 2024. Last season, he played on IMG Navy, finishing the season with a .347 average at the plate with 16 RBI, and an ERA of 0.00 through 9.0 innings pitched with 18 strikeouts. He has played club baseball since 2017, most recently playing with the Florida Dodger Scout Team in the summer of 2023, where he posted a .429 batting average, driving in 10 RBI, and had a 5.90 ERA with 15 strikeouts in 11.0 innings of work on the mound.
Forrest plans on majoring in Business at Xavier. He is the son of Ian and Jennifer Forrest and has one sibling, Jake.
Joseph Chavana is a right-handed pitcher from Laredo, Texas, currently in his fourth season at Trinity University.
In his four seasons as a Tiger, Chavana has a 3.76 ERA across 220.0 innings pitched in 52 appearances, including 27 starts. For his collegiate career, he has 195 strikeouts, has amassed a record of 21-6 with four saves, and has pitched six complete games.
So far in 2024, he has made six appearances, all starts, with a 1.80 ERA through 40.0 innings, allowing only eight earned runs. He has 33 strikeouts on the season and is 5-0 on the season. He's coming off a 2023 season where he made 17 appearances, including eight starts, with a 3.64 ERA through 64.1 innings, striking out 61.
Chavana is the son of Larry and Jessica Chavana and has one sibling, Joshua.
