Holmes joins the Musketeers from Mackay, Queensland, Australia
CINCINNATI - Xavier head women's basketball coach Billi Chambers announced the addition of Phoebe Holmes to the 2024-25 roster on Monday afternoon.
"Phoebe is one of the most competitive athletes we have been fortunate enough to bring into the program," said Chambers. "She brings the right mindset defensively and does an exceptional job of turning that defensive intensity into offensive production.
"Phoebe shoots the ball at a high clip and knows how to create easy scoring opportunities for her teammates. As a freshman who has played at a high level, she brings a steadiness to her game that will allow her to have a smooth transition to college."
Holmes played for the Mackay Meteorettes in the Australian NBL1 Division from 2015-22 where she averaged 20.5 points per game. The 5-foot-7 guard led her team to U16 Championship in 2020 and back-to-back runner-up finishes in 2021-22.
Holmes was also named the Defensive Player of the Year in the NBL1 Division and earned Newcomer of the Year honors in her first season with the Mackay Meteorettes.
She also competed in cricket, softball and tennis in high school – winning gold medals in all three sports at the national level.
