Musketeers Fall in Game Three at UConn

Musketeers face Cincinnati at Prasco Park on Tuesday
STORRS, Conn. -Â Xavier baseball fell, 1-0, in the series finale at UConn, wrapping up the series with the Huskies at 1-2. Xavier moved to 15-16 overall and stands at 1-2 in BIG EAST play.
The Musketeers put runners in scoring position in the fourth, fifth and eighth innings, but the game was scoreless going into the bottom of eighth, with Xavier holding a 9-4 advantage on his for the game going into the frame. A pair of UConn hits in the eighth helped a run score in the eighth to give UConn the 1-0 lead. Xavier had a runner aboard in the ninth after Grant Stephenson was hit by a pitch, but the Musketeers were unable to drive a run across to set the final score at 1-0.Â
Jake Hooker made the start, and Jonathan Kelly, Alex Vera and Nick Boyle came out of the bullpen, combining for 10 strikeouts and Xavier finished with a 9-6 advantage on hits for the game.
Next week, Xavier will travel up the road to Prasco Park to face Cincinnati in the Joe Nuxhall Classic on Tuesday, April 9, set for a 6:00 p.m. start.
