Musketeers Fall to Cincinnati in Joe Nuxhall Classic

Aedan Anderson homers in 5-2 loss to the Bearcats
CINCINNATI -Â Xavier baseball fell to Cincinnati, 5-2, in Joe Nuxhall Classic at Prasco Park on Tuesday evening. The Musketeers moved to 15-17 on the season and 1-1 in the season series with the Bearcats, with the final game between the two set to be played on Wednesday, April 17 at UC Baseball Stadium.
Cincinnati took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first and added two more in the fourth to take a 4-0 lead. Another Bearcat run in the seventh extended the lead to 5-0, holding the lead into the eighth.
In the bottom of the eight, Carter Hendrickson led off the inning with a double down the left field line to put a runner on for Aedan Anderson, who homered to center to cut the lead to 5-2. Luke Hammond got aboard with a walk and Matt McCormick reached on an error to bring the tying run to the plate, but the Musketeers were limited to two runs in the inning, setting the final score at 5-2.
Xavier returns home this weekend for the first home BIG EAST series, hosting Creighton for three games, starting on Friday, April 12 and running through Sunday, April 14 at Hayden Field.
