Xavier Travels to Git-R-Done Invitational on Sept. 23-24

The Xavier University men's golf team heads to Lincoln, Nebraska, to compete in the third Git-R-Done Husker Invitational at the challenging Firethorn Golf Club on September 23-24, 2024. This year's tournament will feature the largest field in its history, with 11 schools vying for the title on the 7,102-yard, par-71 Pete Dye-designed course, known for its tricky water hazards and demanding tee shots.

Xavier's lineup will include a formidable mix of talent and experience: Carson Bellish, Kellen Dean, A.J. Wilhelm, Zach Burton, and Mason Witt. All eyes will be on this group as they look to build continue improve upon their fifth place finish last week at the JT Poston Invitational. The 36-hole opening day on Monday will test their stamina, while Tuesday's final round will demand focus under the pressure of a shotgun start.

LINEUP BREAKDOWN

Carson Bellish: A consistent ball striker with a calm demeanor on the course, Bellish has shown flashes of brilliance in recent outings. His accuracy off the tee will be crucial on Firethorn's narrow fairways.
Kellen Dean: Dean's short game is his strength, and it could be key on Firethorn's subtly contoured greens. He'll look to capitalize on scoring opportunities with his precise putting.

Sunday, Sept. 22: Practice rounds begin at noon.
Monday, Sept. 23: First round starts at 8 a.m. (CT), with tee times off No. 1 and No. 10 for 36 holes.
Tuesday, Sept. 24: Final round begins with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.

With a young but determined squad, Xavier looks to continue to gain momentum after a strong opening event last week. The 5-count-4 format means every shot will count, and the Musketeers will need contributions from the entire lineup to leave Lincoln with a strong finish.
