Swimming Wraps Up Day One at Akron Zips Classic

Musketeers back in action tomorrow at 10 AM for day two of the meet
AKRON, Ohio – Xavier men's and women's swimming opened up the Akron Zips Classic on Friday evening, with Olivia Oyster collecting a first-place finish and a new meet record in the 50 free during the first of three sessions with both teams competing against Cleveland State, Denison and Youngstown State in addition to host Akron.
The Musketeers men are in third place while the women are in fourth after five races on both the men's and women's side. There was also a diving competition in which Xavier did not compete.
Xavier will be back in action tomorrow with two mores sessions, with the morning session starting at 10:00 a.m., with the final session set for 5:00 p.m., following the mile heats that start at 3:00 p.m.

WOMEN'S NOTABLE
- Abby Bocian, Jordyn Libler, Norah Simich and Olivia Oyster set a time of 3:42.20 in th 400 medley relay to place second.
- Abby Bocian set a time of 5:01.58 in the 500 free to lead the Musketeers.
- Parker Mandacina led Xavier in the 200 IM with a time of 2:07.28.
- Olivia Oyster set a new meet record on the way to winning the 50 free, with a time of 22.39, a new meet record.
- Norah Simich, Julia Sweetman, Abby Bocian and Olivia Oyster set a time of 7:29.57 in the 800 free to place second.
- Xavier stands in fourth place with 200 points.

- Xavier picked up a third-place finish in the 400 medley relay, with Matt Fralic, Brayden Mandacina, Aiden Leamer and Kyle Hudson setting a time of 3:18.43.
- Luke Peterson set a time of 4:37.50 in the 500 free to lead Xavier.
- Aiden Leamer placed second in the 200 IM with a time of 1:52.00.
- Sean McGinley led Xavier in the 50 free with a time of 20.69, placing third.
- Luke Peterson, Nate Finnegan, Ryan Knipp and Kyle Hudson closed out the first session with a time of 6:49.62 in the 800 free relay.
- Xavier's men stand in third place with 225 points after the first racing session.
