Volleyball Defeats UConn for 15th Win

The Musketeers took down UConn in four sets on Friday night to improve to 15-2
CINCINNATI - The Xavier volleyball team improved to 15-2 with a 3-1 win over UConn on Friday night at Cintas Center.
The Musketeers started strong, hitting .303 in the first set to cruise to take a 25-19 victory. XU combined for three aces and three blocks in the frame.
Xavier jumped out to another quick start in the second set that built up to an 11-point lead. The Huskies went on a late 5-0 run, but the Musketeers never relinquished their lead powered by a massive six team blocks to hold UConn to a .022 clip.
UConn reversed the momentum in third set, going on another 5-0 run early in the frame to take a 13-8 lead. The Huskies led the whole way through the set and held the Musketeers to a match-low .073 hitting percentage.
XU bounced back with a dominant fourth set performance behind a .552 clip on zero errors.
Xavier improves to 15-2 and 4-1 in the BIG EAST while UConn falls to 13-4 with a 2-3 league record.

Xavier hosts Providence on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. in Cintas Center. Head coach Christy Pfeffenberger and the team will host a post-match clinic for kids after the match for Youth Night.
