Musketeers finish runners-up in the BIG EAST standings, earn No. 2 seed to BIG EAST Championship
CINCINNATI - No. 18 Xavier women's soccer fell, 4-0, to No. 12 Georgetown in the regular season finale on Saturday evening at Corcoran Field. The Musketeers moved to 13-3-2 overall and 8-1-1 in BIG EAST regular season play, finishing second in the league standings.
The Hoyas took the lead in the 21st minute, scoring off a corner kick, then made it a 2-0 advantage less than two minutes later. Georgetown added another goal less than five minutes before halftime to take a 3-0 lead into the half.
Georgetown held a 9-8 advantage on shots in the first half, with a 6-4 advantage on shots on-goal. Samantha Erbach led the Musketeers with five shots, with three going on-frame.
The Hoyas added another goal, in the 72nd minute, to make it a 4-0 Georgetown lead. Xavier had a 12-6 advantage on shots in the second half, with five of those looks from the Musketeers going on-goal, but where unable to break through, setting the final score at 4-0 in favor of the Hoyas.
