Golden Flashes defeat Musketeers, 68-60, at Cintas Center on Friday night
CINCINNATIÂ - Meri Kanerva scored a game-high 23 points in Xavier's 68-60 non-conference loss vs Kent State on Friday night at Cintas Center.
Both teams move to 2-2 on the year.
The Musketeers close their five-game homestand vs Ohio on Thursday, Nov. 20. Tip-off is slated for 6:30 p.m. with the game being aired on ESPN+ and The Varsity Network.

- The game featured six ties and seven lead changes. Kent State led for 17:46 in the game, while Xavier led for 18:59.
- Neither team led by double figures in the contest. Kent State led by as many as nine points (52-43) at the end of the third quarter. Xavier battled back to close within one point (61-60)Â on a Petra Oborilova three pointer with 1:06 left regulation, but the Golden Flashes scored seven unanswered points to end the game and escape Cintas Center with the eight-point win.
Meri Kanerva scored a game-high 23 points on 10-for-21 shooting. She added five rebounds, four assists and one steal. - Meri Kanerva now has two career 20-point games. The sophomore guard has scored in double figures 19 times in her career.
- Mariyah Noel reached double figures for the fourth straight game, scoring 13 points on 5-for-11 shooting. The guard added a game-high five assists to go along with two rebounds.
- Savannah White added nine points, five rebounds and one block. Petra Oborilova finished with six points, three assists, two rebounds and one steal.
- Vivien Nejašmić chipped in four rebounds, two points, one steal and one block.
- Xavier finished with a season-high .455 field-goal percentage (25-for-55) and made six 3-pointers for the second straight game. The Musketeers were also 4-for-8 from the foul line.
- Kent State won the battle on the glass, 38-25, and scored three more second-chance points (12-9). The Golden Flashes also held a 20-6 advantage in bench points.
- Xavier scored a season-high 26 points off of turnovers and scored a season-high 34 points in the paint.
- Kent State posted a .408 field-goal percentage (20-for-49) and went 5-for-17 from behind the arc. The Golden Flashes were also 23-for-30 from the foul line.
- Four Golden Flashes reached double figures, paced by Mya Babbitt who scored 16 points. Riley Rismiller pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds.
