Musketeers move on to second round to face No. 3 seed Colorado at Michigan State
CINCINNATI - No. 22 Xavier women's soccer advanced to the NCAA Championship Second Round for the third time in program history after taking a 2-0 win over Dayton on Saturday evening at Corcoran Field. The Musketeers moved to 16-3-2 on the season with the win.
The match was scoreless through the first half, with Xavier leading 6-4 on shots overall, but the Flyers holding a 4-3 advantage on shots on-goal. Samantha Erbach led the Musketeers with two first-half shots.
Less than 10 minutes into the second half, Regan Dancer put the Musketeers in front, scoring the eventual game-winner off an assist from Erbach in the 53rd minute.
Elin Hansson made it a 2-0 lead less than two minutes later, using a header off an Erbach corner kick to add the insurance goal.
The Musketeer defense held the Flyers without a shot on goal in the second half to help keep the shutout intact, Xavier's 12th clean sheet of the season.
Xavier now travels to East Lansing, Mich., to face No. 3 seed Colorado on Thursday, Nov. 20, set for a 3:00 p.m. start at Michigan State's DeMartin Soccer Complex.

- Elin Hansson's goal was her 16th of the season, tied for eighth most in the country (as of 11/15). Combined with five assists, she has 37 points, tied for 11th most in NCAA DI (as of 11/15).
- Samantha Erbach added a pair of assists to her NCAA leading and school-record assist total, now standing at 16. Combined with her team-high 18 points, she leads NCAA DI with 52 points (as of 11/15).
- Xavier finished with a 17-9 advantage on shots, and a 9-4 advantage on shots on-goal.
- Maria Galley played the full time in goal, collecting three saves for her eighth complete shutout and her 16th win, matching the school single-season record for wins.
- In addition to Dancer, Erbach and Galley playing the full time, Natalie Bain and Emma Flick played the full 90 minutes, helping the Xavier defense to its 12th shutout of the season.
- Xavier's win ended a 14-match unbeaten streak for Dayton.
- The win marked Xavier's third NCAA win for the program (2019, 2022) and the first home NCAA win in program history.
